The reason i can say this is a quick study of the how the GM likes to build his teams and the way the Niners built they defense . Our GM loves to fortify the offensive line in front of a QB so i envision him looking to make upgrades to our OL again which will give us better starters and quality depth . With 2 1st rounders and another pick at the top of the 2nd i can see additions along both OL and DL . Maybe we could even get that potential edge rusher we been searching for since John Abraham .

The Jets have to find a way to get the Miami fish to trade into the number 2 spot acquiring the 3rd and 18th picks . then they should trade down again with the 3rd pick down to the 8th pick acquiring additional picks this year and next year . we need to come away from this draft with a quality RT (Jalen Mayfield) , a solid center(Landon Dickerson) an Edge rusher (Patrick Jones) and a RB (Harris)

Might have more luck getting the Falcons (Fields) or the Bungles (Sewell) to trade up. I still suspect we will have to eat the pick. I can't see a 'must-have' for us at #2 whereas there are any number of players who would be worth the fourth or fifth. After the season we have endured, our first pick must be a bullseye.

I'm cool with the Bengals trade down and to be honest i would even entertain another trade down from the Bengals 5th pick to about the 10-12pick area .

Atlanta will likely want to move up then the Lions...
Falcons would pony up 2nd & 3rd this year and 3rd next year...
Lions would have to pony up from 7 to 4 about the same capitol but instead of 3rd could be 2nd next year...
End up outside the top 5 still with a ton of talent available while now having 3 2s, 4 3s and picks addition to next year...

IMO, after the QBs and receivers are gone, the sweet spot in this coming draft is between 15 and 40 . I would love to accumulate as many picks in that area as possible .
They are edge rushers in that area , at least 2 day 1 starting TE, at least 2 day 1 starting RBs and a bolt load of corners, safeties and ILBer . Furthermore, 2 additional QB can be had in that area . The key to the Jets draft will be what they do in free agency and or trades prior to draft day.

Personally, I'm not looking at the draft yet. Now that we have Saleh I want to see what happens in free agency so I can see what needs we still have. With him here a lot of good players will be interested in coming here and if some of them do it could very well change what our needs are. Thinking about the draft first is sort of like putting the cart before the horse. Now if you're thinking with the mindset that the Jets won't sign any free agents then, of course, you know our needs. We also don't know yet which players currently on the roster will be considered to fit the new scheme and be retained. There are too many unknowns to sort out before the draft before I can get too hyped up about who I would like them to draft and where. This wasn't the case for me a week ago, but, the hire of Robert Saleh has changed that for me. So I guess............if we are operating on the pretense that free agency and roster cuts aren't happening, then let's go ahead and create our draft board, subject to change, of course. Yeah, I know, I'm a party pooper. BUT, it's so much fun...................
