The Mike White question

Did White show enough in his cameo to nail down the QB2 job? Apparently not.

Saleh, who has changed his tune on the importance of having an experienced quarterback in the room, said he'd like to run it back with Joe Flacco and White as the backups. He called it an "ideal" setup, saying he will be "vocal" in trying to re-sign Flacco, whose contract voids.

Here's the problem: White will be a restricted free agent. The lowest tender -- which gives the Jets the right of first refusal -- is projected at $2.4 million. That's a lot of money for a potential third-stringer. They probably will try to get him to accept less money on a one-year deal, with playing-time sweeteners. Flacco, a midseason acquisition who made $3.5 million on a one-year contract, will be looking for at least that much.

In other words, it will get expensive to keep both, but they can't make the same mistake they did last year, starting the season without a seasoned backup.

if so, sign him.

i like him for Zach...he is a snake, and you need to be on top of snakes. you have to protect what is yours from snakes.
from what i hear, he is also a decent teammate who will not opine to develop a young QB, but won't withhold valuable tips either "once asked".

they wanted him last year too, and made it known...he made it known he wanted to start somewhere, and that's why he began the season with Philly; thinking he was going to beat out Hurts. turned out "the truth Hurts"...'cause you're not a starter anymore.

Because he's spent most of his career on NFL practice squads and I don't think it's possible to be considered a veteran despite only 3 career NFL starts @ QB. Mike White I'd like to see stick around but imo he's more of a Rookie than Veteran heck even Zach Wilson now has more in-game experience than Mike White.

Is it really bad about in game experience or film study . If you know what you’re looking o, then you’re more aptly able to devise a plan of attack . Why else would our friends up north spend so much effort on video equipment .

I would prefer a backup who is more mobile thann Flacco, so that the offense with the backup can run in a way that is more like the way it runs with the starter. Obviously, backups generally cant do the same stuff as starters, but a backup who is most effective staying at his spot means that play calling changes, line schemes change etc. Gotta be an okay veteran who can be "scout team Wilson"

I guess we dont know all the FA who will be out there until after the draft, but a guy like Tyrod Taylor? if management thinks he would have the right mentality??

Flacco's legend preceded him, but he didn't follow. Good guy, made his money and could do what he pleases , but outside the lines.
I'd feel comfortable if Mike White was our back up.
