I agree about Gailey getting some of the blame for this systemic train wreck, but I think he chooses not to run the ball because of the line's ineffectiveness at blocking. Every time Forte gets the ball, he's got two defenders swallowing him up. He doesn't even have a chance.
Gotta love Sheldon Richardson after the game. Talking about still being confident this team can make the playoffs.

thats why I believe Bilal Powell should be the lead back... He finds the holes and is able of working in between the tackles or bouncing it to the outside... having Forte more as a situational option, that can run or receive would give us a better one two combo then what we are doing now...

I still think we need a 3rd RB on the roster other than the inactive or injured rookie Troymaine Pope...
someone like David Cobb formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad was replaced by Karlos Williams Sr. either one would give us that physical rusher for short yardage downs... oh yea thats right we don't run on 3rd & 1... never mind...

This team is a mess. They had 12 penalties, two that were declined. Bowles made the move to Smith when the game was out of reach and should have put him in at half time. And of course, he says he is sticking with Fitzpatrick next week.
IMHO, Bowles = Kotite for coaching ineptitude. He simply has NO answers to pull this team out of its funk. Instead of shaking things up like firing KR, CG and benching Fitz he is unbelievably staying the course gents. Frankly, I never thought I would see another Kotite HC clone but gotta tell ya the similarities and what he exhibits is as close as I have seen since those dark days....
finally, I truly believe that Bowles has lost the team... they pay inspired, unemotional stupid football. Put me on the fire Bowles and CS wagon NOW!!!!

What happened last night and over the course of this season is one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen. As someone else mentioned last night in another thread, "I am only watching this out of morbid curiosity". Like looking at the people being pulled from an automobile dead after getting into an accident. You know this is something you are not supposed to look at and yet you cannot pull your eyes away.
Unfortunately, this has happen many times this season and it's gotten old very quickly. This is unacceptable and far worse IMHO than what we witnessed with Rex Ryan and John Idzik in 2014. This team we know has talent, that's really not a question. In the case of 2014 and Rex there was hardly any talent on that team.
Todd Bowles has crossed a major threshold into where he is being compared to the likes of Rich Kotite.
My only hope (certainly not confidence) is that Todd Bowles can actually heed the advice of Mike Westhoff and simplify things as much as possible. The possible repercussions of losing are irrelevant now. The importance of fixing the fundamental issues with this team are more important than winning especially now that the season is lost.
Westy laid out two things:
1) Go strictly with a 4-3 defense. It makes ZERO sense to have Sheldon Richardson playing as a stand up linebacker in a 3-4. It makes even less sense to play a 3-4 base and be forced to keep Darron Lee on the bench. Moving to a 4-3 allows the Jets to utilize ALL of their DL talent simultaneously and keep Darron Lee on the field.
2) Switch QB's. Just so everyone knows, it does not make any sense to trot Geno out on the field, Geno is a piss poor leader, a horrible player, but most of all he is NOT the future of this team. He was also outplayed and clearly lost the competition to be Fitz backup to Bryce Petty. The decision to start Bryce Petty should be made by Bowles this week.
This is the only way IMO that Todd Bowles can possibly get this team back on the winning track and potentially save his job. If these hard decisions are not made, Jets fans can only hope that Todd Bowles can be fired at the end of the season.
