I can agree that his numbers have suffered because of his availability. There is no way Lamar is worth $50M which is what he will ask for. Nobody deserves a guaranteed contract. However based on him missing 5 games in each of the last two seasons and his request for $50M lets say then I would say he is worth 70% of that number which is $35M/season with escalators if he makes it through entire season, but zero guarantees. Lamar has the most risk of any QB on the market or in the league. Maybe he has the highest reward, but JD has already spent the risk/reward card twice.

Risk/reward twice on who? That contract sounds reasonable but there has to be some guarantees in it! There’s just no way that it can’t. No player worth his salt is going to except any contract without any significant guarantees. The escalators might work but there has to be some guarantees in it! He wouldn’t except that.

I thought you were talking about free agents or trades! If your talking draft than he did whiff on Zach and Becton (maybe). Becton showed real promise as a rookie but has been hurt the past two years. You can’t fault Joe D for that. Besides, if Becton can come back strong this year and beyond then Joe D is good on that one. Zach just sucks period and should not have been drafted in the first round period!
