Trey Dean III NFL Draft Profile
|
Trey Dean III Scouting ReportExtremely long, lanky, and slender build. Possesses a smooth back pedal and efficient with getting in and out of his breaks when patterns are directly downhill from him. Dean III is at his best in coverage when he can zone turn and play half a man with his back turned to the sideline. He is an effective in press bail techniques where he can strike his hands quickly and then retreat immediately backwards to ensure that concepts remain in his sightline. Better at playing the eyes of the quarterback in Cover-3 structures than the heavy amount of man coverage that the Gators run. |
Areas for ImprovementDean III has struggled to turn and run in man coverage and doesn’t adequately use his length to suffocate throwing windows. Transitioning in and out of breaks can be a bit challenging when targets are able to accelerate past him with ease. Once beaten, it is tough for him to play catch up because of a bigger frame and the difficulties that come with moving his parts to reappear. Played a bit out of scheme in Florida man heavy tactic and as a result transitioned to safety. |
