Tyree Johnson Scouting Report

Tyree wins with all-out hustle, second and third effort and will contribute in the NFL. Has a quick burst off the line and times the snap well. Good upper-body strength and length to lock-out his opponent and at least moderate lateral agility to slide inside or spill out to contain.

Tyree is aggressive with good awareness to track the ball and attack. Tenacious, tough, competItIve and versatile. He plays with leverage at the point of attack whether inside or outside. Keeps eyes in the backfield when inside; moves linemen to either side with strong hands.

Tyree has the vision to locate the ball and recognize cut blocks. Can rip past blockers and pull down ballcarriers when he cannot fully disengage from linemen.

Areas for Improvement

Johnson rarely the first player off the snap, even when lined up over the ball, but his length, effort and short-area quickness still pressures double teams and helps penetrate gaps. He does not change direction easily. Can be late off the snap. He is not a natural bender and lacks fluid change-of-direction ability.

Johnson plays with inconsistent pad level and is often knocked backward off the snap. He doesn't have the elite quickness or flexibility to flatten off the edge against NFL blockers. He is never out of a play, but can get out of control and work himself away from the action.
