Tyrese Robinson Scouting Report

Tyrese has a strong upper body with physical, powerful hands and works hard to gain body positioning in the run game. He plays with appropriate wide base and intelligence, instincts and agility to seal the edge. He is aggressive extending with power to punch and looks comfortable in space. Robinson anchors against larger defenders in the middle, resets hands to maintain distance. He is athletic enough to help on nose tackle then pick up twist or late blitzer. Tyrese mirrors quick interior rushers. He looks to help the center when uncovered. He has a naturally wide base, thickly build and good length. He has long legs to cover a lot of ground with his initial kick slide. He has the quickness to set up quickly with enough lateral shuffle to mirror and mobility to get to the second level.

Areas for Improvement

Robinson attacks when necessary, though he won't consistently dominate and can lose balance overextending. He is susceptible to speed rusher. He has only average explosiveness off the snap and doesn't possess the accleration or arm length to corral defenders once they cross his face. He whiffs on blocks after beaten initially. He lacks range and lateral quickness. He plays too high and without proper leverage, pad level and can be passive. He is a finesse blocker with average arm length who doesn't use his hands well to win at the point of attack. He flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area.

Tyrese Robinson's NFL Draft Player Profile

Robinson’s mass in his lower half allows him to consistently succeed as a blocker. His anchor holds up exceptionally well in the passing game. He can also move better than expected at his size to make him an able run blocker. Awareness is very apparent when he passes off and picks up assignments from his adjacent offensive lineman. Always plays with his head on a swivel. Wins more often than not because of his sublime hand placement right into the chest of the defender to initiate the drive stage. Can seal off gaps in the run game with his big and stable frame. Has the strength to withstand the power of bigger nose tackles. Stout at the point of attack, rarely loses the first step. Gathers his balance very well if he is pushed back at the start of the rep. Side-to-side movements are smooth.
