I see two problems. One, we are not a very good run blocking O-line. Far too often the RB's are getting stopped right at the LOS. Forte and Powell have busted a few runs, but for the most part, our run blocking sucks.
Secondly, it's killing us that we have no confidence running the ball on 3rd and 1. We're in spread formation and throwing the ball on 3rd and 1. Spread formation!! That's a problem.
this offensive line zone system, the linemen are suppose to block areas, not defenders unfortunately they seem to be blocking no one...
it may be time to change things up a bit and that means players like James Carpenter will become useless utilizing power and road-grading scheme...
what we ran with Rex n company was a gap-running scheme that asks the linemen to locate defenders off the snap and move them back...
this scheme would benefit Brian Winters more so then James Carpenter but with the style of rusher that Matt Forte is, he would benefit more so from this type of blocking scheme... Bilal will continue his success as he is familiar with this scheme as well...
