The Jets have signed LB Ahmad Gooden, WR Keon Hatcher, DE Bronson Kaufusi, OL Corbin Kaufusi, OL Brad Lundblade, OL James Murray, LB Wyatt Ray, QB Mike White and P Ian Berryman to reserve/future contracts.

Gooden originally signed with the Broncos in 2019 as an undrafted free agent. Denver waived Gooden after the preseason and re-signed him to the practice squad Sept. 1. The Samford product was promoted to the active roster Nov. 22. He played in three games and recorded 1 tackle. Gooden was waived Dec. 14 and joined the Jets’ practice squad Dec. 21.

Hatcher, who originally signed with the Lions P-squad in 2017 after going undrafted, signed to the Jets’ P-squad Dec. 17. The Arkansas product played with the Raiders in three games last year and totaled 1 catch for 8 yards. He also spent time on the Packers' practice squad this season.

Bronson Kaufusi was released from the Green & White’s active roster Oct. 4 after playing in three games this season. He registered three tackles and a half-sack. He was signed to the practice squad Oct. 7. The 6’6”, 275-pounder suited up in six games for the Green & White the past two seasons and spent some time on the Jets’ practice squad in 2018. Originally a third-round pick of the Ravens in 2017, the 28-year-old Kaufusi has appeared in eight career contests.

Corbin Kaufusi signed with the Saints in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of BYU. The 6’9”, 275-pounder played defensive end in college but transitioned to offensive line when he signed with the Jets' practice squad Oct. 16. He totaled 153 tackles, 16 sacks, 4 pass defenses and 2 forced fumbles in three seasons with the Cougars.

Lundblade, 23, spent time this season on the Panthers practice squad before joining the Jets’ P-squad Dec. 9. He first went undrafted in 2018 and signed with the Seahawks. The Oklahoma State product was waived and signed with the Bengals.

Murray originally signed with the Chiefs in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross. He landed on their practice squad and was eventually promoted to the active roster where he played in two games. Murray spent time with Kansas City’s P-squad this season before joining the Jets’ Nov. 7. The St. Louis BattleHawks also selected him in the XFL Draft.

Ray, the grandson of Nat King Cole, joined the Jets’ practice squad Nov. 25 after a stint with the Bills practice squad. Ray went undrafted in 2018 and signed with the Browns. The Boston College product totaled 114 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, and 1 interception.

White, a fifth-round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2018, joined the Jets’ practice squad Sep. 25. He was in Dallas last season and didn’t play in any games. The 6’5”, 218-pounder threw for 8,540 yards, 61 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 27 games for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers while completing 66.4% of his passes.

Berryman joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Western Carolina in May. The 6’0”, 200-pounder is the Catamount’s all-time leader in punting average (43.8). He downed 82 of his 206 punts inside the 20-yard line and 56 of his punts were at least 50 yards.

If you discount the last Game, Buffalo, Ficken is a better kicker in my opinion. Maher didn't miss any extra points last season as near as I can remember but he was lousy on field goals. I was certain they would add a kicker or two in the off season to compete with Ficken after that last game. To his credit the weather wasn't helping much but a really good kicker should be able to handle rain. I'm betting they'll add at least one more kicker to compete.

We need a few NFL caliber kickers in camp to compete for the job! Absolutely ridiculous that we couldn't consistently hit PAT's all season!
