What the Jets need: a question.

There's much discussion on the local sports radio stations about whether the Jets need this or that or the other thing. There's a way to approach this which I've not yet heard.

Consider it's the final 2 minutes of the game. The Chiefs are 2 points behind and Mahomes has the ball. Do you expect a Chiefs win?

Now substitute Jets and Rodgers for Chiefs and Mahomes. Same question, though.

When you can say why you expect a Chiefs win but a Jets loss, you know what has to be fixed in the Jets organization.

Yup. When you start to think about it, you realize the difference is play-calling and execution. That's why the Chiefs win a come-from-behind and the Jets don't. In fact, the Jets will even blow it if they're a couple of points ahead.

Play calling and execution.

They have no go-to approach.
Successful teams don't rely on trickery. They have one approach, with a few key plays and they tell the other team, "You know what's coming and we dare you to stop it".
The Jets haven't had that since the Ground and Pound under Rex Ryan.

It all comes down to the fundamentals imo. This team lost what little fundamental discipline it had when Saleh was canned. The Defense is lackadaisical at best, at least when it comes to tackling. NFL doesn't stand for National Flag Football League last I looked but it's probably coming.

Once again they are going to have to blow it all up and start again. We will have to watch Wilson, Sauce, the Williams Bros, all thrive with other Teams while our Jets have "good drafts" and "won the offseason" is thrown around.
The only change will come is if the Team is sold, and even thats no guarantee.
Soo dig in Jet Bros. Another tougher stretch coming up.
