While this ain't the worst yet team I've seen in my 52 years of watching they are just not a good club. Their QB play is in the bottom quarter of the NFL and on defense they do not put pressure of the opposing QB. Those are bad recipes for success in the NFL. Fitz had his career year last year mainly because we had the easiest schedule against the pass in the NFL. And say what you want about the defensive backfield and they have not played well but our front four does not generate enough heat. Today was the worst yet. Ben had forever to survey the field and could have picks his 4th option. A shame, three first rounders.

Basic issue, and I'm just calling it like I see it, is we just do not have enough clutch impact guys, our coaching is suspect and we desperately need a QB. We are what our record is.

I would strongly consider giving the next in line a chance to start. Perhaps we hit lightning. I'd rather do that then see a 5-10 season and not knowing who is at the helm next year.

How long for pitchers and catchers?

Hockey starts Wednesday and I will be watching that. The NFL says the ratings are down because of the election. Thats not why and they know it. Go Stars!!

It's surprising. Usually, misery brings the Jets fans out of the woodwork. I'm shocked it has been this quiet.

I guess SOJF are on the decline.
With regret , I have to consider myself a SOJF

New coaches , new QBs , new Stadium , new GMs , same ole results.

I agree my friend the 70's were terrible
Maybe time has healed old wounds??

This team looks shot, however I bet they win Sunday. They will, just to crush us again soon after.

Nah. Arizona, like so many teams, completely tanked against two AFC East opponents, NE and Buffalo. Against the Jets, they will play like SB contenders.

I think us fans are tired of arguing with each other over this team. No matter what they still suck. So what difference does it make what our opinions are or what we argue or debate about. Just seems like waisted energy now.

I'm with this. It seems like no matter what we do, we're just the same mediocre or worse team. Even when we were going to the AFC championship, at least personally, I never watched those teams and thought they were anything different then exactly what we always trot out there. What is there to even argue about anymore? I think we all just feel sad at this point. I don't know enough about football, neither personnel nor strategy, to say what we should be doing. I just know that as a fan, I'd love to watch a team that was legitimately good, for once. You know, like 12 or 13 wins, or more. We are always struggling to win 10 games, even in our best years. Ugh. Frustration is all it is. And that wasted draft picks! Oy vey.

I'm with you 99% on this expect for one year (that I can remember anyway). The 98 season when Vinny took over and the team won 12 games. Like a SB contender should. Dominated in the playoffs until the AFC championship game. Even in that game they lead at the half but the second half they fell about. Rex second year when they won 11 games, that team was pretty good also however we all know how it ended. The Jets SB season I wasn't even born yet and the 82 season, I didn't know NY had a football team until that championship game. So I can't speak on how dominant that team season was because I didn't see it. Now the Jets are just a fluke team and have been that way a lot more then not. I'd say beside 69 and 98, they have been a fluke team but we fans still keep watching, praying and hoping. Sad sad sad, lol!!!

Note: watching that 98 Jets team play was a thing of beauty and I honestly thought we were going to win the SB that year. I had no doubts in my minds until the last 3-4 minutes of the AFC championship game. I can honestly say I never felt that sure about any other team we had. So I know exactly where your coming from.

Season 81' 82' 85' 86' didn't end with a SB and all ended bad, but I have to say were a blast to be a Jet fan . Especially after the 70's .
I couldn't wait to go to each of the home games .
Went in 85"with mono.
Went in 86' the day before my son was born. My wife still doesn't forgive me for this one. These teams were no fluke, they were really good teams but we didn't finish it.
Good times.

I always thought that the three year period '67-69 were the best years to be a Jets fan. Shea was rocking (and always sold out) and the Broadway Joe legend was in full swing. Just being part of the AFL was rebel, thumbing it's nose at the establishment. Very popular way to be for younger folks in those turbulent days. The Jets owned football in this town. Namath owned the rest of it. The Patriots went 11-30-1. The Bills went 9-32-1. The future was realistically bright.

In '67, Joe was the first to throw for 4000 yds. Perfectly thrown long bombs were the order of the day. Even the interceptions were spectacular (but way too frequent). Games were exciting to watch. Namath treated the rest of the AFL the way QB's are treating the Jets' secondary recently. They were 7-2-1 at the bye and were on their way to not only the first winning season between the Mets and Jets, but an apparent championship. Unfortunately, Namath threw away a couple of games and the championship was delayed for a year.

The next two seasons were easy division wins as Namath finally learned that it was a good idea to not throw the ball to the other team. He won (or tied for) the AFL MVP both years. The Super Bowl season of '68 was largely a matter of waiting to see if the Jets would play KC or Oakland in a one game playoff for the right to play in the AFL-NFL Championship Game. That game, against Oakland, of course, was a classic that could have gone either way. Then, an actual World Championship. Amazing.

The 1969 season was even better with another easy division win. This time a team would have to win two playoff games but it would be no problem for the Jets, or so you thought after the twin championships for tenants of Shea.

The dream died on a very frozen field (and crowd) at Shea against the Chiefs as 1969 came to a close. It would be until 1981 until they had a winning season again, but even that didn't last long as the team not only lost its home field seemingly forever, but came crashing down again in the mud in Miami. It would be until 2000 until they started a three year winning record streak again. Those are loooong periods of futility.

This history is way too old to be the "Golden Age". This fan base deserves a long run of winning seasons and forays not only long into the playoffs, but being played out at home in front of them. I just wonder if that will happen in the balance of my lifetime.

I've always been a Jets fan because of my dad, but I didn't get really into watching football until around 2002 ... when Chad Pennington took over the team, that was the time when I was really getting into it. So I remember those Testeverde seasons, but I didn't really get to experience them fully as a football fan. So yeah, I'm just ready to be better. I hate to lose but it seems more and more clear that we need a franchise QB to ever compete in this new version of the NFL where all the rules favor passing, and to get that, you need top draft picks, and to get those, you have to lose a lot of games. But we are always just "there," a team that can win sometimes, a team that isn't bad, but not one that is really good either, and it feels like the cycle is impossible to break.

I never played football and everything I know basically comes from watching the Jets and listening to you guys, and previously, my Scout brethren, talk, because people here are knowledgeable and articulate (even if things can get a bit rowdy sometimes haha) ... so I don't know what they need to do, and I'm in no position to formulate any kind of plan. I'm totally at the mercy of the coaches and front office to do the right things. And so far, they aren't. Just generally, from Terry Bradway to today, there have been varying levels of success from season to season but we have never put together "that" team, the one that looks at the schedule and sees wins, and winnable games, instead of winnable games, and probable losses...
