Oftentimes when players temporarily hold the biggest contract, it gets leapfrogged by the next good player. It's more of a testament or lack thereof to the dollar. The market takes off. Once in awhile a Daniel Jones gets big bucks not compatible for his skills,not a league-wise stat leader. Then the last case would be a Jordan Love whose is a "gambled" contract with the hopes of becoming a super star at today's money. Too often it doesn't work out, the GM is gone, the player is gone, and a lot of money goes with him.Has he really been that good in one season to get that deal?

Jerry Buss late owner of the L.A. Lakers signed Magic Johnson to a 25 year, $25 million contract which at the time was unheard of. His reasoning was it'll be a bargain down the road as the dollar shrinks. It was a gamble, however of course the contract was ripped up, redone probably more than once. Oh to have such problems.

It's a big extension but was miss reported by Schefty. It has 100 million guaranteed over 7 years with a large amount of the money back loaded in years 5-7 , which are void years with little dead cap.
