He's moving forward. He's learning as he goes. Don't forget the Jets were missing KEY player due to Covid. One more game (Buff) and the off season to learn more and more. Yep "DEFENSE" we finally got out QB.

Yes but the trouble is his name might be Jay Cutler Wilson .
Have you ever wondered why a guy with so much talent got passed around the NFL like “Mary Jane” ?

Look man Wilson played an incredible game on Sunday. I wish the staff had just kept what they knew to themselves regarding that 4th down play . Knowing what I now know, and considering the type of day Berrios was having and the distance needed to get the 1st down it was a selfish play by Wilson . It wasn’t an inch or even a yard that was needed . I don’t care what he thought he saw, it was 2 darn yards and with their DTs you’re not sneaking that .
I applaud coach Saleah and the OC for falling on the sword for Wilson but either he getsit or he doesn’t. It’s a team game, and when you win as a team the QB gets most of the credit anyway. What was he trying to prove.?
He played the game of the year for him and messed it up being selfish. Like I said, I wish the coach had kept what he knew about the call to himself . Up until then all I knew was that it was a bone head call by the OC . Given that he got the blame anyway why did we have to know the truth ?

because in a way the head coach was besides himself thought they coached the HERO ball out of him until that play unfolded...
frustration, knowing what it should of been and what happened he let it slip...
don't get it wrong Saleh is a player's coach and will keep things together...
end of the day he kept it real and now you see what I have been saying all season long...
I'm sorry you got a dose of Zach Wilson reality but he either improves and changes this behavior or he won't last...

I have been highly critical of Wilson, but I have seen some nice progression. No INT's is what I'm impressed with. I think the hero ball can be coached out of him. I will admit he has more talent than Darnold at this point in his career. Where he takes that talent is up to him.

Wilson is starting to look like a NFL QB. He was calm in the pocket, threw the ball accurately, and with touch when needed and with extra sauce when needed. He seemed to make all the right reads when passing yesterday, and had no turnovers. His 1,2,3. was Berrios , Cole, and Yaboah. I thought that Wilson looked great. Do I wish that we won , sure. especially against TB but fuck it the kid looked great and Ill take the draft pick...

Zach has proven that he is coachable, and given his play since returning, you'd have to say that Saleh and LaFleur would have to agree.

i am not buying into the "Zach needed to be recognized for a great play" narrative.
he made a calculated risk based on the fact that (1.) Berrios's number was called on many big plays, and (2.) he saw a gap.

i think that Zach thought the D would flow to Berrios as his number was called so often, and with a gap, the safest play would be a keeper because #10 would be the focal point of the play; he could act as a decoy. He was wrong.

i do think that Saleh and LaFleur were/are extremely pissed at Zach. Zach didn't recognize that the D was not in a pursuit call; They were straight goal line, and in that situation, he can't make it into a goal line play.

rookie mistake - oh well he will learn. A hallmark of his rookie season has been learning from mistakes - that's why we have seen progression. He isn't meathead Darnold STILL making same bad reads and throwing WTF INTs.

The rookie staff and QB learned a painful but valuable lesson- and based on what has transpired throughout the season they will all benefit from it. Considering what we wanted going in was progression- I still see the mistake happening in this instance to be a good thing because it didn't cost them a playoff position/game.....and silver lining was they stayed in the 4th draft position.
