Jets coach Todd Bowles said it's too early to tell if TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins will be active this week.

Seferian-Jenkins is eligible to return from suspension, but is reportedly out of shape after his two-week layoff. With Jordan Leggett and Eric Tomlinson dealing with injuries, the Jets may be forced to play him despite his conditioning.Seferian-Jenkins looks likely to be on a snap count if active. He should be avoided as a Week 3 streamer.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has "got to get in a little better shape. That's to be expected with two weeks off, but he'll get going." Bowles said it's too early to say for sure that Seferian-Jenkins will be active on Sunday against the Dolphins. It would be a surprise if he's not. The Jets have four other tight ends on the roster, but three are dealing with injuries. Seferian-Jenkins is eligible to return from a two-game suspension.


Saturday is the one-year anniversary of Austin Seferian-Jenkins' DUI arrest while playing for Tampa Bay. The Jets' tight end, coming off a two-game suspension stemming from the arrest, says he has gone 242 days without alcohol. He hopes his story can serve as an example to others.

I follow him on IG... He is always at the gym working out and he looks plenty in shape to me. But what the hell do I know

I find it extremely hard to believe that ASJ would lose over 30 lbs on his own in the off season.Show up to camp in terrific shape. Even though we didn't see much if him in the preseason games, he was the talk of training camp. Then he is suspended for 14 days and he is now not in "game shape?".
If this is truly the case, then Bowles has zero respect in this locker room.
I don't understand it on ASJ's part. He is in a contract year,on a team devoid of talent at his position, busted his ass to lose weight and then shows up out of shape??!!
If he is inactive Sunday, Then Bowles and his whole staff should be put on notice,because that is unexceptable on anyones part.

Gamesmanship...LOL. That would mean that TB has a plan and controls the locker room. IMHO he doesn't and doesn't have the respect of his players. Look at mental mistakes (see attitude) or like Skine (spelling) regression over the last two years , look at players dogging it (see Wilk), see players playing out of position by CS... look at last weeks blowout, when they should have put Petty in to get valuable game experience but no MR stubborn sticks with the loser....

Well said pal. But I must ask you, WHEN will Toilet get fired? The way I see it, he will get fired before the season is over? I mean how can anyone watch this and come away with any sense of optimism?

well, keeping him all season, gives us the best chance at the number one pick in the "18 draft..

i would love to see petty get a legit chance but bowles won't play him a minute before he feels he has no other choice/mandated to do so..

but even if petty comes in & sets the league on fire, i cannot see us passing on a QB in round one regardless..
