Jarred Goff the perfect example

Is there anyone that watched Goff play last year that thought he would be able to develop into an NFL Quality starting QB. He looked as bad as Hackenberg and not better than Petty had looked last year. People called him the worst #1 pick after 1 year faster then they did on JaMarcus Russel.... I think the jury is still out but he looks like a completely different QB this year. Looks like he is developing nicely now.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Their general manager knows exactly what he is doing. He built a strong team for him this year. Traded for Watkins, sured up the offensive line, drafted a star WR and then picked up an innovative coach.

What exactly are we doing here?

Unbelievable!!! Goff looked last year like he was going to get cut by his second or third year if he didn't get any better. Didn't seem worth having him on the team with the way he was playing and look at him just one year later. Not only is the change in his play from the way they build the team around him and the change/better coaching. Also the fact that he played from year one helped his development greatly. How the hell is anyone supposed to learn in any fucking sport when your riding the damn bench? Only playing and getting your ass whooped on the damn field, court, hockey ring (whatever it's called), and getting coached well before, during and after the game gives you that experience and helps you develop. What the fuck is the Jets coaches thinking???

Hack should have been playing from game one this year and should have gotten atleast one-two games of play last year. He can only show you by actively playing on the field what he is capable of. This year is all about seeing whether or not Hack can be the guy or atleast develop in anykind of way to access if he is worth keeping. There is possibly 5-6 first round QBs coming out this year and maybe 3 of them can be drafted in the top 5. So this year for the Jets is all about, do they need to draft one of these QBs or not. How can you tell that when the youngest QB you have on the team that you wanted to be the guy is holding a fucking clipboard instead of actually playing? Fucking idiots!!!

Goff looked great last night. I was pretty impressed? Granted, that was against the 49ers and the 49ers are definitely a very bad team, but I agree with the op. It look like the Rams, at least right now, made a good decision drafting Goff.

Its called having a good scheme and having a young HC with an offensive mind putting his QB in best position to succeed with talent around him. Petty could do the exact same thing if given a chance with a decent organization. Hack, Petty and the #1 pick next year are doomed with the Jets.

Correct as long as you have TB as HC that is correct. It is inconceivable to me that he will not play Petty.

Imagine if the Jets drafted him. The fans and the beat writers would have decided he was a bust before he had a chance to develop.

if the jets drafted him, he might still be waiting to take his first regular season snap.....

With this regime, perhaps. Remember, though, it all often gets lumped together when it comes to Jets administrations, and someone like Sanchez was rushed.

it's hard for me to co sign on sanchez being "rushed," with trips to the AFCCG as a rookie & as a 2nd year player..

that said, i do think that regime mishandled sanchez..

The results were there, but largely in spite of Sanchez. It was because the team around him was loaded.

If he had not been rushed, he would still be a viable QB in this league.

well, in my mind's eye, i remember some big time moments (regular season as well as playoffs) from sanchez year's one & two..

but i have no real interest in picking nits about days gone by..

we have are plates full enough with the '17 jets..

the jets built the perfect squad around Sanchez. His first two years there was a great oline, above average WRs and an excellent running game.

The third year they thought he would turn the corner but he never materialized into the Sanchize. I don't think he was rushed. I just think he reached his ceiling early and didn't care enough about the game to dedicate himself and grow into a better passer.

This is more what I remember, but it is indeed a matter of opinion, and not necessarily worth reviewing. I just hope young QBs get a chance in this system.

I agree with this to a degree... because of his maturity as QB was still growing they expected to much in year 3... One more year built around and and then they should ahve taken the training wheels off. But that's my opinion

Well unlike the Jets they developed their QB. Last time we had a true franchise QB we replaced his OC with Sparano and replaced his top two targets with Plaxico fresh out of jail and 37 year old Derick Mason. Not to mention we don't like hiring offensive minded coaches or using high picks on offense ever.....Its a shame really when you look at all the rookies starting and improving throughout the league......but we cant get any of or young guys on the field.

Timing of a team is what it is all about. Look at the Jets in 68 the 64 -68 draft made that team. Plus a few vets. I also go back to Hart with a bad team he was so bad for a few years then came an OL & he became a very good Qb & a good team.

We are starting over now & maybe TB will grow so when the players get here the timing will be right
