Defensive Line - Ranked 29th by PFF

Way to much talent on this DL to be ranked so low. No sacks A combined 56 QB hits/hurries... At what point do we start looking at the Defensive scheme.. I mean it's easy to blame MO and say he got his money and now loafs but Williams has been just as bad this year. Ealy has been good but no sacks. You know I don't think I am on the bandwagon of bashing MO. What I am seeing is a pattern of OC seeing what the DL tendencies are and figuring out how to stop it and absolutely no creativity or adjustment on our DC's and Bowles part. That's my thought. What do you guys think?

Exactly.. and the question is why? Are they all of a sudden bad or is the scheme not fitting or not creative enough. I have to think it's scheme. cause even last year we were good against the run and now we aren't even good there. Williams was wrecking shop in the backfield for RB's and QB's and now nothing. We need a defensive scheme overhaul is my take.

run defense tendencies or aka body spacers to open up rush lanes for our linebackers to penetrate is hurting the overall front seven production we are used too... at the same time both Mo and Leo's overall worth and production has fell off because of the scheme they are being asked to execute... this game was fun when our d line was the focal but now it is all about controlling the opposing line and having our linebackers be the pass rushers which isn't working since we can not stop the run... our secondary is night to day improved from previous years but our total worth is negative...

if this team wants to be more productive they need to have the d line to pressure the pocket like yester years... it might hinder our good not great coverage as of late but playing a team like Miami with Jay Ajayi this week is going to be frustrating if our d line is planking like they have been all season long...

A few years ago TB went to a four man front va Dallas.......different team but I would love it if we went more to a 4-3 like the LA rams in the 60's

People can say whatever they want, but this is a direct indictment on the HC and DC. As has already been echoed in other posts, there's way too much talent for the DL to be playing so poorly. I would imagine everyone here would have thought the Jets would have fared much better against the patsies had they actually stopped committing penalties and stopped the run.

They actually convincingly stuffed the run against the Dolphins, so you know they are capable, and yet they have no motivation whatsoever? I'm sorry, 3-3 record or no, Toilet has got to go.

Toilet keeps lining Leonard up inside and therefore he gets double teamed. It's a huge misallocation of talent.

Well, I agree a decision needs to be made regarding him and his albatross contract. But that still doesn't excuse the rest of the DL and the DL rotation. They are ALL floundering. Not a single player to blame, but everyone to blame. When that happens you have to look at the leadership......

This season Jets two talented defensive ends, Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams, a pair of former first-round picks have no sacks after six weeks but coach Todd Bowles defends their play, Calvin Watkins of Newsday reports. “They’re playing hard and they’re playing well,” Bowles said. “They’re doing everything that we’re asking them to do, not disappointed in those two at all.” When Bowles was asked what specifically Williams and Wilkerson are being asked to do he said, “just play football, specifically.” Bowles needs both players to be strong in the run game and show position flexibility by moving to defensive tackle. Asked if Williams and Wilkerson are playing the run more, he said, “I want them to play football and do what we’re asking them to do.” With each player struggling to get sacks, Bowles got tired of another question, the eighth, about his two defensive ends not having a sack. “Nobody is playing great when you’re 3-3,” he said. “You’re playing average football, it has nothing to do with Mo or Leonard, it has to do with our entire team. I’m not going to sit here and make excuses about two guys when you got 11 guys on each side of the ball. How could we go 6 games without a sack from either of these two guys. Bowles has to figure out a way to play to their strengths. I saw Jets post game last Sunday and Wesfhoff was saying how he thinks Williams should not be inside and should play at LDE where he thinks he's most effective. My feelings on Bowles are not good.

They're not getting it done the way they are lining up now so if there's going to be a change in productivity there will need to be a change in player positions and responsibilities. Of course that's my unprofessional opinion because I'm not an NFL coach. I'm just a long time die hard fan with decent vision and some common sense.

You are hired!!!! Lets see how TB plays his hand I have faith in him

I'm trying to keep having faith in him in spite of a couple of questionable play calls and the lack of consistent run stopping ability. Part of the run defense problem MIGHT be injury related as both Mo and Leonard are playing injured.

Bowles brought in new Coaches and they have made a big difference. But the main problem still on this team as we seen today as Bowles calling defensive plays from sidelines that lost this dorkfins game today. Bowles needs to GO!! I cant get made at the offense with no QB- 1 WR and an old RB. 3trd down blitzing and no bump and run to give your defense time to get to the QB who got hit as passing for a TD. Just think if bump and run happened there, Jets gets a sack and Dorkfins punt. Bowles has 3 years and I dont see any improvement of Jets defense and his play calling is awful. Its obvious the Cards head Coachj called all the defensive plays for Zona with Bowlers just relaying HC calls. If any of us at our jobs did this bad we would be fired. I dont like seeing anyone get fired, but just like us if bad at our jobs.....fired is what happens. BYE BOWLES.

Bowles is NOT calling defensive plays, he has relinquished play calling to Rodgers the defensive coordinator...

This defensive unit improved the last couple weeks but was more dominate today, but penalties killed us...
