Watching Sam Darnold

Darnold after the game explained his poor showing by saying it's hard to pas when you're on the ground. He's right. His "O" line didn't protect him very well but part of that was on him. He thinks and acts too slow. The two fumbles and the interception were on him. He is not ready for the NFL. Mayfield has the skill set but his personality concerns me still. Don't know if the Jets could deal with that. Originally I was down on Lamar Jackson because his passing game was suspect but he has improved a lot. I'll watch him play today before I decide how I feel about him. He might be the best option for the Jets if his passing game really has improved. He doesn't have a lot of negative baggage.

How do you feel after Lamar's 4 INT's? He is a great runner though.

I will reiterate Sam Darnold = Mark Sanchez...

the worst thing this kid could do is declare for the draft, he isn't ready...

now the post game interview also reveals he isn't ready to be a leader of men, when he basically threw his entire offensive line under the bus... he wouldn't survive at this level right now no matter how much Kirk Herbstreit states that his shelf is higher than any other QB prospect in this draft... you can surround a QB with talent but he needs to be mentally ready to take the helm and work with the team not be the reason the team fails...

Honestly, I would prefer to sign Cousins in Free Agency and draft Barkley. What a backfeild and offense we would suddenly have!

Starting to like that idea, but what if we get Cousins and no Barkley?? Then we just have a over priced QB that can't win any big games.

im starting to agree with you. We skip out on all QBs in the first round and draft Barkley. That guy is the next Ezekiel Elliot and I think he will make any QB look good next to him. Sign oline, sign Cousins, Bridgewater/Keenum and draft Barkley. We’d be setting ourselves up for future success.

no our best move would be to trade out of the top 8... double down twice (both our 1st round & 2nd Round picks) with a later round first round selection we can steal/target center Billy Price while acquiring additional ammo to solidify and continue the rebuild...

How do you feel after Lamar's 4 INT's? He is a great runner though.

To be honest I'm inclined to go with my earlier opinion of him. He is not a very good passing QB. Not only did he have those 4 int's, many of his other throws were frequently high. I think that this is correctable in time but how much time ? He certainly is a great runner which is why in an earlier post I said I thought of him as a running back not a QB.

Over priced is an understatement. He would command 25 mil or more per season taking a really big chunk out of our cap.

I would kill for Barkley over any of these QB's and then get an OL and Mason Rudolph in 2nd round.

The Jets would be wise to continue to follow their BPA philosophy. If that's a QB fine, draft him. If not, this team could use upgrades at several positions and they can get a really good player with a top 10 pick. So they should focus on continuing to add good players and not reach for a QB if they are not 100% sold.

Right, but if Mac drafts a defensive lineman with that pick, the fans will be marching on team offices with torches and pitchforks.

I hust finished reading mock draft and in this mock draft they said he is still the number one pick according to nfl scouts and that has been decided a while ago. I don’t see it. Rosen looks like a better player to me.

You're hoping he FALLS to us? I didn't watch Darnold play, I already knew the guy sucked. I had watched him enough to know he's overrated. But you think he's played so poorly that he's slipped from the top5 and catapulted Mayfield into the top 5? I'm not saying it's impossible for Mayfield not to go top 5, but the last I knew he was still considered to be second tier of the QB's. I would think the Jets should be able to get Mayfield right at 7?
