Belichick is a douche, but he's not stupid, particularly when it comes to football

But he is a selfish SOB who doesn't give one wit about what happens with the Patriots after he retires, in fact he probably hopes they lose to enhance his legacy.

That said, I believe Belichick KNOWS he traded away a young franchise QB in Garoppolo, but he's already decided in his mind that he's going out with Tom Brady.

IOW's when Tom Brady slips and can't play at this high level anymore, starts breaking down physically, or just retires, BB is going out too.

So he figured, like the selfish SOB that he is, I don't care if Jimmy G. is a FQB for the next HC, I'm just gonna maximize his value and get what can help us win now.

I think he KNOWS he gave away a FQB, but he doesn't care, because he's going out when Tom goes out, period.

Brady is already starting to show his age.
And BB is no spring chicken either. This job is hard, long hours, he doesn't wanna do it forever.

I think he's gonna ride this train with Brady as long as it lasts, then he's bouncing.

So what he could get for Jimmy G. now was more important to him than what Jimmy G. might have meant for the future.

BB had to get something for Garrapolo while he could. Garrapolo would not have played nice backup for the next 4 years, which is what Brady plans on playing. He would have left via FA and the patsies would have gotten zilcho. It was a smart move. BB will likely take another QB in this draft anyway.

Bill may be a Douche but Maximizing value on draft picks is what well run teams do.

I know lots of teams passed on him in 2014, but Jets had their chance to take him. Unfortunately Idzik and Ryan where employed at the time.

I have long thought that Belichick goes when Brady does. It has a lot to do with ego. If Brady left, and suddenly the Patriots were an ordinary team under BB's watch, guess who gets all the credit for their previous success? Not Belichick. It would be devastating to his ego to be exposed as fortunate an all-world QB dropped in his lap for a sixth round compensatory pick.

Many of his moves have been for that one more ring. While still young, the Cooks deal was about a ring, not about the future of the team. I think Jimmy G was a matter of knowing they couldn't tag him at that price, and that he wasn't going to extend again to hold Brady's clipboard for another few years. They had to get something for him. I'm sure he would have preferred a player who could help now over a pick that can't, but he took what he could get. He is mortgaging the future because the window is closing, which means once Brady and BB are gone, the cupboard will be a bit bare for a while, and the Patriots will retreat back to mediocrity and a half-empty stadium, at least in the short term. The problem with Pats fans is they think this will last forever, and no NFL dynasty has ever beaten Father Time.

Belichick is an azz but his scouts know how to find QB's in the Draft! Unlike ours!

Well, Brady landed in their lap in the sixth. If they truly knew what they were getting, then they were stupid for waiting as long as they did for him.

As for the other guys, I used to hear how Cassel was the future. He didn't pan out. Then it was Hoyer. Then Mallett. Then Jimmy G. Then Brissett. I'm not sure hitting the lottery once and then landing one other guy - who they traded for a second - is that impressive. The Jets would be QB geniuses, too, if Brooks Bollinger had ended up being one of the greatest QBs in the history of the game.

I guess that's why there the Patriots and we are the Jets. They must be doing something right!

Belichick cares about winning and nothing else. If the Jets had beaten the Dolphins in the last game of the season the year Brady was hurt and Matt Cassel played, then Matt cassel would have gone to the playoffs and went on to become superbowl mvp and Belichick very well would have traded away Brady the next season.

And a traded Brady would have them stunk as Belichick trades all his old players to the Browns

What Belichick Is Lucky At Is Having The best Offensive Line Coach That There Ever Was. ...And He Was A Cheatah Coach Before Belichick . He Retired A Few Years Back And Brady Immediately Started To Get Hit More. Belichick Then Brought The Oline Coach , Scarnechia, Back Out Of Retirement And The Cheatahs Will Now Win Every Superbowl Until He Retires Again.

Lets Not Forget That Without Brady, The Cheatahs Are 14-6. 14-6 Without Brady. I'll Say It Again 14-6! Imagine If A Jet Team Ever Had A Span Of 14-6! And let's not forget that thats With 3 Different Qbs. None Of Which Had Ever Played A Game, And One Was even third String!!. Jets can't win with a first string qb no less a third stringer.

Sorry To Say, If Brady Leaves And Scarnechia Remains Offensive Line Coach, Then The Next Qb Will Have All Day To Throw Just Like Brady And As Long As He Doesnt Have No Talent At All This Whole Thing Will Start Over Again.

Brady Leaves And Cheatahs At Worst Go From 13 Or 14 Wins To 11 or 12 wins until the
???new qb Learns that he will never get hit then it will be back to 14-2

Belichick will always look for ways to cheat the system. Many rules have already been rewritten to stop Belichik from circumventing them. Until the rule book makes a sweeping generalization stating that anything that should be considered cheating will then actually be cheating, Belichick will continue to bend the rules and win

One more thing that helps is the fact that he can get any player he wants for cheap just because he can promise them a ring. Revis, David Harris,James Harrison, certainly they all have Belichick, heck Revis even called him names before playing for him, but all of them played for the devil anyway, just to get a ring.

Belichck is a dueche. Brady is as dueche who regularly Gets Concussions, According To His Wife. Neither Is Going Anywhere Any Time Soon, And Until Belichick Leaves Anything That We Talk About On This Site About our Jets Is Just A Great Big Waste Of Time

And One More Thing, As Soon As Wilkerson Is Let Go, Belichick Will Sign Him To A Cheap Contract And Wilkerson Will Play Harder Then Ever. And Wilkerson Will Join The Growing List Of Former Jets That Have Sold Their Souls For A Rings

Hate To Say Any Of This But It Is Stinking true!

I think belichicks ego makes him have to prove that he can win without brady

I also think that as long as he can get away with breaking the rules, that he will continue to win

Funny thing about cheetah fans is that they actually worry that they might not win the superbowl, while the rest of us know that it's a sure thing
