Jets may need to trade up with Indy or Clev for Mayfield

Sorry, I should have saved the tweet, but I saw a tweet from a sportswriter in Denver who said the Jets and Bronocs will both be hot for Mayfield.

Unfortunately they currently sit at 5 and we sit at 6, so if we don't move up to 3 or 4, we're out of luck.

The good news is, we have an early 2 to sacrifice because we still have a later 2 from Seattle.

If they trade up for that midget I'm done. We need draft picks. Baker Manziel is a not worth sacrificing picks.

If Mayfield is gone, it means Allen is still on the board. I'd take that.

Allen is Christian Hackenberg. All the tools, big Arm, Athletic. No accuracy... PASS!!! Mayfield is accurate, good arm, athletic and can read through progressions. His biggest knock (besides his height) is he sometimes waits a half second too long to throw the ball.... I'll take Mayfield over Allen all day, everyday and Twice on draft day....

If we trade up though... We trade up for Rosen... Don' t like Darnold either he looks like a bigger version of Sanchez... Now, I liked Sanchez and his tools but I don't know if we have the staff that can develop a guy like Darnold. We certainly didn't with Sanchez.

the Jets won't trade up no matter what knowing that we are starving for prospects to continue the rebuild...

the Jets are also noted liking both Allen and Rudolph... Allen should fall into their lap but all else won't have to jump anywhere until the second round comes around for Rudolph... Expect this if anything they will jump backwards from the top to mid first round to stockpile... Here is the other thing if the team does secretly like Mayfield because of his NFL limitations they will watch him fall to the back end of the first round and be taken by a team that knows how to utilize his attributes...

I'm not sure about Rosen. He has everything you want in a QB. But....... From what I've heard is he may be un-coachable! It depends where his heart is. Also if we trade up to #3, its going to cost more than our #1 and #2. I feel it will cost us our #1 and #3 next year. Less we forget we will be bidding against Denver and whoever else enter the bidding war.

Mayfield's not going to fall to the end of Rd 1. There are too many needy teams for QB's

you be surprised where most of these players will end up going...

Mayfield will fall to the mid first round maybe into the 20s...

As much as these so called experts have cemented as much as 4 to 7 QBs will go in the first round is just what it is them suggesting nothing else... Teams have needs and some needs are just being suggesting from the media not actual what the team believes... Right now it is more omg you are screwed you need a QB... Doesn't mean teams have to lock in to a prospect with a 1st round just because that 5th year scares teams... There is no lock at QB in this draft, no one that makes you feel confident in drafting...

Baker Mayfield ---- Limitations due to his height
Josh Rosen --- Does he really like to play football
Sam Darnold -- Clearly isn't ready for the next level
Josh Allen --- Has the look, but his accuracy is less to be desired

2nd Round

Mason Rudolph --- Like Allen his accuracy is spotty but has upside with top end opponents but is valued a 2nd round

So who would you guaranteed is going to be selected in the first, albeit Top 10?

As for the Browns who have missed on QBs in the first round wouldn't it be smarter for them to sew up their offensive line with arguably the top 2 offensive linemen in the draft... Not saying Kizer is the guy, but they do have a running game, some depth at wide receiver and an up n coming defense... Joe Thomas is at the end of his career and left tackle is a big question mark for the Browns... So if the Browns go OT then OG... Giants are in on Eli Manning they have Davis Webb I understand this is the new GM and new HC but they have had a hard time running the ball so to fill a need the best RB in the draft sitting there at 2, is hard to pass on... Colts like Browns look at fixing the offensive line or securing an edge rusher even finding a cover corner but at 3 what to do...

Then the first team licking their chomps needing a QB and have the pick of the litter... That is the first one off the board...

Now the Jets are on the clock and teams are going to be biting at the chance to move up... Arizona is one team with Carson Palmer retiring after his Head Coach... This was the team that I had in my mock moving up to the Jets pick... Stock piling a 2nd and 3rd would be ideal to continue the REBUILD...

I would pass on Baker Manziel for sure. Allen probably as well, but maybe in 3rd round. Rosen is the best of the bunch. Darnold would be my second choice. A stud LT, Barkley or Edge rusher would be my top 3 picks over any QB. The only pick that would be a disaster IMO is Baker Manziel and maybe Allen.

In this order here are the QBs I want us to draft

1. Rosen - Trade up
2. Mayfield - Sit tight and take him at 6
3. Rudolph - Trade Down and grab him in the 15-20 range
4. Darnold - Sit and take him at 6 if he's there
5. Allen - Sit and take him at 6 if the above options are gone, including being able to trade down for Rudolph
6. Jackosn - Sit and either take him in Rd 2 or try and trade back into the late 1st rd and take him

That has worked out well for the Browns.... Or you trade up in RD1 and get your QB like Rams did for Goff ( goes to show how important coaching is) or Texand did for Watson, Chiefs for Mahomes ( jury is still out but he looks good...

In this league you have a QB and win or you don't and you lose..... I.E.... Jimmy G and the Niners....The world said the Niners needed more than a QB... they trade for Jimmy G and once he plays with the same exact team that hadn't won a game, they didn't lose,

GET A QB and thats how you REBUILD!!!

P.S... And lets not forget the Eagles trading up for Wentz

Or we could have just drafted Watson. IDIOT, incompetent organization!!

Browns 0 wins this year 1 win over two...

we are actually a couple of pieces a way from being a competitive playoff team...

we don't need to trade up to grab any QB even tho Maccagnan was asked if he would do so if there was someone they liked and he answered yes without hesitation... Don't take that as if they are interested in any particular QB or prospect just saying he isn't afraid of making that deal that would benefit the team's overall potential moving forward...

Lets say we trade down with the AZ Cardinals acquire their 2nd and 3rd while still having a Top 15 selection... Regardless how the organization sees about Hackenberg our offensive line is atrocious... We all know we need a center, a quarterback right now, moving forward it would be nice to have potential at left tackle, left guard and right guard not to mention better depth at running back and tight end... So now that we moved down and stock piled some picks giving us 3 in the second and 2 in the third while maintaining a solid Top 15 selection we can know delve into what is best for the organization...

If the Jets still want to draft a QB they should be able to do so with possible one of three still interesting prospects on the board like Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield all available at 15, not to mention the other top prospects like a Da'Ron Payne (DT/FB), Vita Vea (NT/DT) and/or Calvin Ridley (WR)... Just for all purposes the Jets have been linked to Josh Allen so lets make that the pick...

R1. 15. Josh Allen, QB Wyoming
R2. 37. Billy Price, OC Ohio State
R2. 47. Mark Andrews, TE Oklahoma
R2. 49. Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
R3. 72. Martinas Rankin, OT, Miss St.
R3. 79. Marcell Frazier, DE/OLB, Mzz
R4. 103. Kevin Toliver, CB, LSU

We simply fill needs throughout our roster while bolstering depth and potential just by trading out of the 6th pick gathering two additional top end picks... Regardless if we retain the services of Austin Seferian Jenkins, he shown potential but is he long term solution at that position, who knows... A player like Mark Andrews would give us a dual threat which in this league is very important to have in the passing game... We are likely to move on from Forte, but Powell does he stay or go... If we intend to have some sort of balance on offense we need an alternate to McGuire and Sony Michel from UGA would be a dynamic addition to our backfield regardless if BP stays or is traded/released...

We all agree we need that center if not Billy Price then Arkansas' Frank Ragnov is the answer but maybe not at 37th in the 2nd round unless they fear they may lose out on him...

Rankin in the third round would be a steal, a left tackle with upside...

Getting a pass rusher/edge guy in the third being that this draft again is deep in this particular position helps us out not to reach for anyone early allowing us to fill needs... I know BPA, but there are some BPA that are actually needs for a team...

Like this one, Kevin Toliver from LSU has the size and length that both our DB coach and HC desire in man cover corners and he should be there in the fourth round just because there is too much talent at this position throughout the draft that some like him may slip down the draft boards...

But having a draft within the first four rounds, giving us plenty of depth and potential is a good thing...

Things will change as we draw closer and other moves could be trades or roster purge opening up other needs not to mention what will we do in free agency with all that cap space...

Russell Wilson and Drew Brees arent that bad

two have succeeded at that height - how many otherwise very good college QBs at that height have failed?

and at least one reporter who is 5-10 says that he is taller than Mayfield face to face

extremely uphill to succeed at that height in NFL

It becomes even harder when he acts like a classless, immature jerk. Hard to imagine the Jets taking him...I don't see it.
