That has worked out well for the Browns.... Or you trade up in RD1 and get your QB like Rams did for Goff ( goes to show how important coaching is) or Texand did for Watson, Chiefs for Mahomes ( jury is still out but he looks good...
In this league you have a QB and win or you don't and you lose..... I.E.... Jimmy G and the Niners....The world said the Niners needed more than a QB... they trade for Jimmy G and once he plays with the same exact team that hadn't won a game, they didn't lose,
GET A QB and thats how you REBUILD!!!
P.S... And lets not forget the Eagles trading up for Wentz
Browns 0 wins this year 1 win over two...
we are actually a couple of pieces a way from being a competitive playoff team...
we don't need to trade up to grab any QB even tho Maccagnan was asked if he would do so if there was someone they liked and he answered yes without hesitation... Don't take that as if they are interested in any particular QB or prospect just saying he isn't afraid of making that deal that would benefit the team's overall potential moving forward...
Lets say we trade down with the AZ Cardinals acquire their 2nd and 3rd while still having a Top 15 selection... Regardless how the organization sees about Hackenberg our offensive line is atrocious... We all know we need a center, a quarterback right now, moving forward it would be nice to have potential at left tackle, left guard and right guard not to mention better depth at running back and tight end... So now that we moved down and stock piled some picks giving us 3 in the second and 2 in the third while maintaining a solid Top 15 selection we can know delve into what is best for the organization...
If the Jets still want to draft a QB they should be able to do so with possible one of three still interesting prospects on the board like Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield all available at 15, not to mention the other top prospects like a Da'Ron Payne (DT/FB), Vita Vea (NT/DT) and/or Calvin Ridley (WR)... Just for all purposes the Jets have been linked to Josh Allen so lets make that the pick...
R1. 15. Josh Allen, QB Wyoming
R2. 37. Billy Price, OC Ohio State
R2. 47. Mark Andrews, TE Oklahoma
R2. 49. Sony Michel, RB, Georgia
R3. 72. Martinas Rankin, OT, Miss St.
R3. 79. Marcell Frazier, DE/OLB, Mzz
R4. 103. Kevin Toliver, CB, LSU
We simply fill needs throughout our roster while bolstering depth and potential just by trading out of the 6th pick gathering two additional top end picks... Regardless if we retain the services of Austin Seferian Jenkins, he shown potential but is he long term solution at that position, who knows... A player like Mark Andrews would give us a dual threat which in this league is very important to have in the passing game... We are likely to move on from Forte, but Powell does he stay or go... If we intend to have some sort of balance on offense we need an alternate to McGuire and Sony Michel from UGA would be a dynamic addition to our backfield regardless if BP stays or is traded/released...
We all agree we need that center if not Billy Price then Arkansas' Frank Ragnov is the answer but maybe not at 37th in the 2nd round unless they fear they may lose out on him...
Rankin in the third round would be a steal, a left tackle with upside...
Getting a pass rusher/edge guy in the third being that this draft again is deep in this particular position helps us out not to reach for anyone early allowing us to fill needs... I know BPA, but there are some BPA that are actually needs for a team...
Like this one, Kevin Toliver from LSU has the size and length that both our DB coach and HC desire in man cover corners and he should be there in the fourth round just because there is too much talent at this position throughout the draft that some like him may slip down the draft boards...
But having a draft within the first four rounds, giving us plenty of depth and potential is a good thing...
Things will change as we draw closer and other moves could be trades or roster purge opening up other needs not to mention what will we do in free agency with all that cap space...
