On Defense No. 1 Priority: Find an edge rusher

Maccagnan was hired, he said he wanted to create a pipeline of 3-4 outside linebackers. He has invested three draft picks in the position, none of whom has emerged as a pass-rushing threat -- Jordan Jenkins, Dylan Donahue(injured) and Lorenzo Mauldin(injured). Jenkins is a solid run defender, but they need a speed rusher who can draw double teams and create one-on-one matchups for Leonard Williams.

The good ones never get to free agency, so it's up to Maccagnan and his team of scouts to find a gem in the draft.
  1. Lorenzo Carter, UGA
  2. Arden Key, LSU
  3. Bradley Chubb, NC St.
  4. Clelin Ferrell, Clemson
  5. Austin Bryant, Clemson
  6. Harold Landry, BC
  7. Sam Hubbard, OSU
  8. Duke Ejiofor, WF
  9. Marcell Frazier, Mizz
  10. Marcus Davenport, UTSA
These are the top 10 edge rushers in this year's draft... There could be a shake up in this top ten since not all underclassmen have declared yet but this list is fierce right now...

Not trying to minimize edge rushers, its BY FAR the most important position on defense, but it pales in comparison to a FQB

If you don't have a FQB in this league, you are the Washington Generals ... only the teams with FQB's are the Globetrotters.

of that list 4 of them will be rounds 2 and 3... and yes we need that edge rusher to take our front seven to another plateau... With the safeties added this year, that edge rusher along with edge setter in Jordan Jenkins and the developing middle linebacker in Darron Lee, we are in need of that one missing piece that has been a missing piece for the last several years...

with a more dominate defense even a sucker at QB would get plenty of chances to put points on the board...

needing a FQB is one thing but finding that one is the tricky situation... as for this draft there is potential but there isn't that one guy you can not pass on...

From flat on his back? The team needs to build an offensive line first, to protect the life of any QB we have. Also, the Oline gives us a running game, which would take the pressure of whichever QB is in the game, as well as keeping drives going so the defense can rest.
And, the team needs a pass rusher, not necessarily an edge rusher. QBs like Brady have such a quick release, the ball is away before you can get to them from the outside. You've got to get to them up the middle, to disrupt them before they can read their progressions or find the outlet valves.

you and me know that they will sign a veteran FA QB to helm next year who will know the limitations of our offensive line to RBs, and WRs/TEs... Might as well complete the overall on our defense and then once that rebuild is done they can focus on developing or buying an offense... oh yeah didn't they already state they are open to bringing back McCown, shows where their minds are at...

I have to agree being a QB myself. All the teams in the Play-offs are there because of excellent QB play, Tyrod being the only ??. This should tell the Jets FO something they already know....or then again, maybe they don't.

AGREED. My dream is for Mac to get a FQB, Center, and Edge Rusher with the Jets first 3 picks. For me that would be truly great for the team going into 2018. But because Mac always takes the BPA, he may/may not address need? It really depends on how the board falls......

MM will find it very difficult to pass on either Lorenzo Carter or Bradley Chubb if sitting there at #6. My choice would be Carter, but both players are potential monsters on the outside and would solidify the front 7 immediately. There will be tremendous value at #6 between 2-3 QBs, Barkley, the aforementioned Edge guys and Nelson the OG from ND. I'm leaving out Fitzpatrick because we are set at S, but can't go wrong with any of them.
