Report: Belichick “sees an opening” to get to the Giants

The ESPN report regarding the rift between Patriots coach Bill Belichick, quarterback Tom Brady, and owner Robert Kraft sparked legitimate speculation that Belichick may want out. If he does, there’s only one place he wants to go.

“I’m sure Bill knows this is his last chance to be the Giants coach,” a source close to Belichick told Gary Myers of the New York Daily News. “Bill sees an opening — an opening to get to the Giants.”

The unnamed source doesn’t know whether Belichick will try to get out of New England, but if Belichick goes elsewhere, it will be to one destination only: “The Giants are the only place he wants to be. . . . He wants to be the Giants coach. I know that for a fact. That would be pretty cool. My guess is if he wants out, the Giants already know. He would be great with [G.M. Dave] Gettleman. Bill is a football guy. Gettleman is a football guy.”

The problem is that only one of them could be in charge, and Belichick would demand that type of control. Gettleman, who arrived a year ago and is actually older than Belichick, may not want to give up all or part of his newfound power.

But if the Giants’ desire to have Belichick surpasses the Giants’ desire to have Gettleman in control of the football operations, all it takes is a phone call to the Patriots to see if they would be willing to negotiate compensation in the event that the Giants would be able to negotiate a new contract with Belichick.

From the Giants’ perspective, whatever it would take to get Belichick would be worth it. And if there’s any truth to Wickersham’s report, the time to make a move is now.

Please let this happen. We might have to watch the Giants win a few SBs but at least we would have a chance to get there ourselves. NFC East would mean that Belichick isn't facing three dud franchises every year in order to win the Division.

the funny thing about the AFC east is,when the Patriots "steamroll" through it to get to the playoffs, the best of the best from the other divisions get to knock them out. They can't seem to do it either. Then when the Patriots get to the Super Bowl the supposed best team from the NFC gets to knock out the AFC east paper champion and more often than not they can't do it.
I hate, like the rest of you do, all the winning they do but there are a lot of teams that fail against the Patriots. The Jets, Bills and Miami just get to do it twice a year.

2017 Patriots Vs. AFC East 5-1
Vs. NFC South 3-1
Vs. AFC West 3-1
Vs. AFC North (Steelers) 1-0
Vs. AFC South (Texans) 1-0

Being in our division gives the cheatahs 6 should win games. Typically they play another 6 teams that are no good. That means if they split with the 4 decent teams that they play they are 14-2. typically they mess up in 1 or 2 of the other games which leaves them at 12 or 13 wins. The fact that they cheat, has to count for a win or 2, which always gives them home field advantage.

They have home field advantage and the belief that they will win. I truly believe that the other arc teams go into the portal expecting to lose. Honestly, if they had to play in a respectable division, they might lose a couple more games a year, which would take away the home field advantage and all of what we have seen for years might be different. same goes for if they didn't have a video library of every other teams practices.

The AFC has not been good for a long time. Since Peyton has been gone, there is no one to really challenge the cheatahs. The Steelers for whatever reason can't beat them. The one time the Steelers made the Super Bowl, it took our good old Jets to get the cheatahs out of the way. Other AFC teams just can't get out of their own way. Most couldn't win a playoff game that wasn't against the cheatahs, no less against the cheatahs

As for the NFC, they have a lot of teams that are pretty evenly matched. They beat each other up before they get to the cheetah bowl. Usually they are better than the cheatahs but they always feel like they have to do something extra to outsmart belichick. best or worst example: Pete Carrol.

What have the Cheatahs won each Super Bowl by? 3 points or less I believe? and that's with them knowing the other teams playbook as well as the other team. Take away the cheating and they win no superbowls.

A lot of guys, I think, still don't want to believe that the cheatahs cheat for some reason. They were caught with the spy gate stuff and admitted it. When brady had his balls deflated I was watching NESN. I think , if I remember correctly it was Bruschi that they talked too. He was adamantly saying that brady wouldn't cheat. They then asked him the cheatahs actually cheated with the spy gate stuff. Bruschi immediately answered " Yes we did that, we were caught and we payed for it. that's old news , but brady is not cheating"

if a wife or girlfriend cheats, we say "once a cheater, always a cheater" Same goes for belichick and the cheatahs

and the NFL never made them turn in all the video tapes that they had made , just the 2 that had been confiscated. belichick was told on his honor to destroy the rest of the library. Do you believe he would actually do it? lets not forget that belichick had his guys dress in NFL Films sweatshirts and video the other coaches signals under the assumption that they were working for the NFL Films. That's a lot of effort to cheat don't you think?

Last year, the Falcons offensive playbook went missing for a half day during a pre Super Bowl press conference and a drone taking videos was seen flying over one of the Falcons last practices before the Super Bowl. Who do you think could have been responsible for those things? Answer: Once a cheetah, always a cheatah

I wonder what will happen if belichick does coach the Giants and then gets caught cheating. Will Giants ownership brush it off like kraft did and just be happy to get the rings? The Giants are a standup organization. I'd love to see the answer to that question

if belichick leaves, so does Scarnechia and the AFC east immediately becomes a level playing field again. Cheatahs will no longer be able to get guys like David Harris who are willing to do anything for a last chance shot at a Super Bowl to play for peanuts and a ring

Of course the best of the other divisions have to go to Foxboro, possibly already having played on Wild Card weekend, because that automatic AFC East usually brings home field. The NFC team gives the Patriots all they can handle, in the last two Superbowls they lucked into Pete Carroll outsmarting himself and the biggest choke job in SB history.

Not saying Belichick isn't the GOAT, but it would be more interesting to see him try to dominate the NFC East.

just for fun. The Cheatahs were 4-2 against teams with winning records outside the division this season.

1 was the Chargers 9-7
1 was the Steelers and if you watched that game, the Steelers won, except for kraft buying the officials
They beat the Saints week 2 when the Saints opened the season stinking up the joint
They beat Atlanta. 9-7 Anyone betting on Matt Ryan at that point of the season in the Super Bowl rematch after what happened in the Super Bowl?

Their last 8 games of the season,

Broncos 5-11
Raiders 6-10
Bills twice
Dolphins twice
Jets
Steelers

What respectable team wouldn't salivate at playing those 8 games(minus the steelers) to end the season?

They only need to be up for one of their last 8 games, and that one, by all means but the final score, they lost

hey, you can only beat the teams that are on your schedule, but not for nothin, the cheatahs schedule is filled with cream puffs

most seasons, they have it even easier. I believe one of there Super Bowl seasons, they actually didn't beat a team with a winning record until the playoffs

If he goes there and that team wins the Super Bowl, you would have to drag me down off the ledge. Talk wouldn't work.
Living among their self-entitled fans is already the most insufferable feeling you can imagine.
That would be the last straw.
I'd rather he stay in our division and kick our ass until he retires than win for that hateful team with which we share our stadium and have them gloat about it forever.
