Jets have a golden opportunity to make a bold move at OC

Now that the Gailey thing has cooled, its a golden opportunity to put on the full court press for Adam Gase, the brilliant young OC from Denver who many suspected would receive the HC Job in Denver.

Well he didn't and he's still out there as a free agent having been released by Denver last week, and I would imagine he has a big resentment over the Broncos hiring their former OC to takeover as HC instead of him, when he just orchestrated an offense that shattered the records books, so he can probably be had if the Jets act quickly and aggressively here.

My only concern with him is that there's always the chance that this offense was more Manning's than his. Look how much his team struggled once Manning was a bit shaken up.

I hear that he's being tied to the Jaguars offensive coordinator position anyways. Jets have to move fast if they are going to get him.

No doubt having a HOF QB was a big factor, albeit an aging HOFer who does not have very much arm strength anymore and gets by mostly on savvy, and they have some tremendous skill position players in Denver too, so Gase certainly had all the pieces, but that said, you still have to give him some credit as the author of one of the most imaginative, exciting and record breaking offenses in the history of pro football. The kind of numbers they put up on his watch are staggering, and it was amazing to watch them slice and dice NFL defenses on almost a weekly basis. For that reason alone I think it would be a coup if we can hire this young man with the Jets. A much better hire than the 63 Y.O. Chan Gailey or anyone else whose out there in my view.

The fact that Denver is moving on with out Gase is troubling to me. I would think that Manning had a big voice in that. If he didn't Elway is a very silly person. I don't think he is.

The thing that was appealing to me about Gailey, is that he has had fair success as an OC, with very bad QB's. That is certainly the case with the Jets

the thing that sells me on gailey

kordell stewart was a play-off qb and had his best years under him
same with jay fiedler

fitzpatrick had his best year with him as OC

3 very avg to below avg qb's and two went to the playoffs as the starter

only reason fitzpatrick didn't make the playoffs is because bills had the number 32 ranked defense that year.

I agree. I wasn't to hot on brining Gailey in at first. Then I remembered the good job he did in Miami, and other places, with mediocre, or bad QB's. He seems to fit .

I think we need experience and Gailey fits that. I don't want a whole CS that is real green.

I get it that some of you are wary of Gase since Peyton Manning is such a large factor in how well the Broncos' offense has performed. Quite honestly, that gives me some cause for hesitation too. However, I have been reading many accounts of Gase and there seems to be an almost universal acclaim for him. By most accounts, he is one of the brightest up and coming offensive minds. I would LOVE to have him as the Jets' OC.

Ive been hearing that Gase has interviews set up with the Ravens to replace Kubiak.

Some good points are being made about Gase but we may need to go with someone who has more experience. Like someone mentioned before we cannot go into the season with such a young coaching tandem.

What about Tresman?

I'll be open to him Because before Cutler he was known as a qb guru. Not sure if he is but I want creativity in our offense. It's no longer a running league. Teams that throw and throw well are the ones that are in the super bowl now a days.

bowles, mac & the jets don't seem hell bent on bringing in a seasoned vet to the coaching staff.. signing gailey was starting to sound pretty damn good for a lot of reasons stated on this board.. i'm still holding out hope it gets done.. but i find myself trusting the game plan casserly & wolf laid out for woody.. so i'm not gonna predict bad comedy..

If Gailey is going to play the diva, or what ever is going on, Trestman is the guy I would go with. Hopefully the Jets will have a rookie QB in camp. Trestman was know as the QB whisperer. Might as well give it a shot.

Plus I think Bowles could use an ex HC on the staff.

Gase's resume is way too thin; a 2-year OC for a team that didn't need one with Peyton running the show.

That said, I'd take him over Morningwad in a heartbeat.

Gailey is the most qualified over all if he isn't a football theory nutjob, which sounds quite possible he is.
