Anderson Arrested again

What's really sad is his first arrest would most likely have gotten dismissed in March and he may have even have had a good chance to win a civil case against the officer and the Miami PD.
This arrest will undoubtedly bias the outcome of his first case when it goes to trial now.

Did you conveniently forget Santonio Holmes? It must not fit your argument?

The Steelers were prepared to release wide receiver Santonio Holmes had they not been able to trade him, sources told the Post-Gazette today.
They took the best deal they could find late Sunday night -- a fifth-round choice in the April 22-24 draft from the New York Jets. It was the best offer they received after talking to a number of other NFL teams about trading Holmes.
The trade came one day after a report on Profootballtalk.com that Holmes faces a four-game suspension in the 2010 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, which was confirmed today by the Post-Gazette.

Although it has not been announced whether Holmes will be charged in Orlando after a woman claimed he threw a glass in her face at a club early last month, the Steelers obviously had enough with their sometimes brilliant but often troubled wide receiver.
Holmes helped deliver the franchise its sixth Lombardi Trophy with his spectacular touchdown catch that won Super Bowl XLIII and brought him the game's MVP trophy. That came several months after coach Mike Tomlin made him inactive for one game after his arrest for marijuana by Pittsburgh police, a charge that ultimately was dropped.
He also was charged twice in his rookie year, once for disorderly conduct and once for choking a former girlfriend, but was not convicted on either account.
After the woman in Orlando filed a civil suit against him last month, Holmes issued some bizarre comments on his Twitter account, telling one person to kill himself and announcing another time that he was going to "wake n bake," considered by some to be slang for smoking marijuana.

Steelers management was furious with Holmes' antics and the black eye it and Ben Roethlisberger's legal issues had given to the organization.
They signed two free agent wide receivers last month, perhaps already knowing about Holmes' latest violation of the NFL substance abuse policy. Also, they have entertained four wide receivers among the 28 college prospects who have visited them over the past two weeks, two of them considered likely first-round picks: Notre Dame's Golden Tate and Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant,
Holmes, the first wide receiver taken (with the 25th overall choice) in the 2006 NFL draft, had his best regular season in 2009 when he led the team with 1,248 yards receiving on 79 receptions, with five touchdowns. It was the first time he had topped 1,000 yards receiving. He has not made a Pro Bowl in his four seasons in the league.
Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert issued a curt statement after the Steelers finally confirmed the trade late this afternoon:
"We believe the move is in the best interests of the Steelers." It was a straight-up deal that does not include any other picks -- conditional or otherwise - or players.
The trade leaves the Steelers with 11 choices in the upcoming draft. Four of them are fifth-round draft choices -- one of their own, two compensatory and the other in the Holmes trade.
Tight end Heath Miller did not learn about the trade until he arrived at the team's training facility this morning.
"I definitely didn't see it coming,'' Miller said. "he's a good player, he was a big part of our offense, a big part of us winning games. We'll definitely miss him.
"At the same time, these sort of things happen in this business. The Rooneys and our ownership have been doing it for a long time and obviously felt it needed to be done.''
Miller said he was not one to decide whether those owners were trying to send a message by unloading a player who has caused them problems and faces a possible suspension.
"I think guys know they're held to a standard, they know they need to stay out of trouble. Some things happened, obviously. You'll have to ask the guys upstairs if they're trying to send a message or not.''
Mike Wallace, who led the NFL with a 19.4-yard average per catch during his rookie season in 2009 with 39 receptions for 756 yards, likely will move into Holmes starting job in 2010. With Hines Ward, two newly signed veteran free agents in Antwaan Randle El and Arnaz Battle, and third-year pro Limas Sweed, Miller believes they remain strong at wide receiver.
"I think obviously Santonio was a game-changer, a big-time player. At the same time we have guys talented in their own right and I'll be excited to see how they compete and work and I know they are more than capable of getting the job done."
In the meantime, authorities in Georgia will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. today to reveal their decision on whether Roethlisberger will be charged in a sexual assault complaint.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The above lays out WHY Santonio Holmes was traded to the NYJ, when the Steelers had every intention of cutting him if they hadn't been able to trade him. All of this because Holmes had a few brushes with the law and the NFL? Yet you just got done lecturing us about how, "Those teams don't cut players for having off field incidents either or on field for that matter."

So I guess you either conveniently forgot about Holmes or it just didn't fit your argument??????

Holmes had 4 arrest, 2 for violence against women, 1 for drugs, 1 drunk and disorderly and was due a large payday. Slightly different than Anderson's situation. But he still wasn't cut after 4 arrest. 3 much more serious than Anderson's
Bell, Harrison, Rothlisberger, Burns, Hines Ward all arrested, yet not released. I could name plenty of others.
I replied to AFA in regard to his post.
?????? You obviously feel I was lecturing you for some reason.
And what I posted "What's really sad is his first arrest would most likely have gotten dismissed in March and he may have even have had a good chance to win a civil case against the officer and the Miami PD.
This arrest will undoubtedly bias the outcome of his first case when it goes to trial now."
Really has nothing to do Holmes.
In my opinion, it's sad to see someone with talent and the potential to make enough money for his and his childrensi futures piss it away. In fact I find it sad to see anyone piss away an opportunity , even if it doesn't pay what Anderson is potentially able to earn
Please don't think I post with you in mind, we obviously have complete opposite opinions regarding Anderson and I know we will never see eye to eye on most things, but this is a discussion forum and I am entitled to post my opinion wether you agree or not, and just because I don't agree with you, I am in no way lecturing you or anyone else.

I will bet you any amount his first arrest will NOT get dismissed. He resisted arrest and therefore they've got him dead to rights (probably on tape or other bystanders) in any court. In regards to Holmes, he might have been arrested, but none of them stood. As of the time he was traded, he had been charged by the police with ZERO. His entire trade was all because of arrests (all of which were dismissed or dropped), a pending legal matter regarding throwing a glass in a woman's face and a failed league required drug test. No matters at all dealing with the police.

Anderson's first case is now not likely to be dismissed. I agree as it's the State of Florida vs Anderson in both cases now.
without his second, recent arrest, he likely would have walked.
Witness accounts put the police offer in the wrong. That officer had just returned from suspension for a similar situation. He had been suspended several times and the Miami PD had settled several lawsuits due to his falsifying arrest reports, for police brutality, and he was fired from another agency for the same thing a few years earlier.
This second case may very well taint the judges decision in the first case. He will know in about 5 weeks time.
You remember when Revis was arrested, they had him dead to rights too. 4 first degree felonies and a misdemeanor. The Robbery and terroristic threats were captured on video. He was going to prison for sure...... I believe hi charges were dismissed when he went to court.
Police routinely add as many charges as they can when making an arrest in hopes that something will stick. The DA then sorts through the charges to determine if any of them are prosecutable. Is it likely they can prove the charge with out a reasonable doubt. If not they will drop charges and or try for lesser charges that they may be able to prove.
Anderson's future is out of his hands now and once his leagal issues are resolved, his future with the Jets will be decided.
If he faces jail time he will be cut, a lengthy suspension,(what I have repeatedly suggested) he will likely be cut.
Cut him now and his remaining money still gets paid, cut him if he is convicted and his contract can likely be voided.
As For Santonio, I stand by what I said. His contract was up and you don't extend a player with that history and pay him big money. If Anderson was making big $ or was in a contract year the Jets would be more inclined to cut him, but still after the leagal process plays out.

Here's what NY Jets WR Robby Anderson allegedly told a police officer while he was being arrested for going 105 in 45, according to the officer:

24-year-old Anderson was a STUD with the Jets in 2017 -- hauling in 63 catches for 941 yards and 7 TDs.

STUD that is 8 games for Fitz. in 15 years he may be hauling in 20 years if he keeps this up

Likely on a football scholarship and not an english or any other type of scholarship.

Robby double majored in English Literature and Law while at Temple.
:global (30):

Seriously , He quit football when Temple changed coaching staffs, then went back for a season only to have to sit out and attend community college due to Academic reasons.
Anderson really needs to shut down his social media accounts , get counseling for his mental health issues or he is going to end up working at McDonald's if lucky, otherwise he will end up dead or in jail.

I remember when he signed, he was talking about how greatful he was to have a chance to make money playing football and how much he missed the game when he quit school. That only 2 years ago, a little less. Your right. His memory is definitely short. Sad to see him wast his potential.

Robby Anderson should be cut, but probably won’t be. A pattern of bad behavior doesn’t lie. He’s a knucklehead.

If the Jets can somehow land Allen Robinson in FA, or even Martavis Bryant, we’ll be fine at WR with Kearse and Enunwa as #2 and #3.
