Look we need to find a qb this year or big mac will be at McDonald's next year

This pretty much sums it up. This is the make or break off season for Mac. If he does not justify why he is here by yielding some very meaningful players including a QB. he will get fired.........

I am saying if we do re-sign McCown we won't hand him the starting job like this past season... there was no open QB competition as they said there was, I rather see the youth take their lumps regardless if it is Petty, Hack or a rookie...
some of us here identified the 2017 QB competition as complete horse shit very early in the process..

i have no reason to believe the guy has had some sort of epiphany..

i also have no reason to believe woody's brother would insist mccown's return would be essentially as a coach..

besides, maccagnan's already gotten bitten in the ass once by giving bowles mccown/semi competent QB..

I am not rooting for our team to fail but this team is not gonna win a championship or be setup for long term success if we pass on a QB this year and go with McCown. In my opinion with McCown we will be 6-10 next year 8-8 at best but reality is McCown won't duplicate this year next year and we will be 3-13 and everything gets blown up and that is my expectation if we don't make moves to get a franchise guy at QB to build sustainable success. I always root for us to win but my comments are based on Reality..

And yes I would rather not clean house again... I think picking the right QB to fit the system will go a long way of settling the franchise and keep moving in the direction of sustainable success.. McCown does not provide that. So draft a QB

I have to agree with this. This really says it all. McCown played out of his mind in 2017. That was probably his very best year as a pro. To think he can repeat that performance over and over again would be ridiculous. There's a reason why McCown has always been a journeyman. It's pretty reasonable to think his statistics will easily fall in 2018. He's damn near 40 years old now.

So, yeah, if we do not have a young guy working behind McCown we'll be doomed. McCown will fall from grace and take the Jets with him otherwise. 3-13, 2-14?? Those are probable records for the Jets in 2018 unless they start to make some bold moves.

I don't want to jump to any conclusions, we still haven't gone through FA or the draft, but without any big moves this off season we will be worse than in 2017..,

Training camp in 2017 was not a contest because the jets simply do not have enough talent. That's a fact. At least at the QB spot, they are way under talented in comparison to other NFL teams. Both Petty and Hack are legitimately bad enough that they wouldn't even make most other teams. So the problem is the Jets need a talent infusion. Mac's choice in QB's is what has defined his run with the NYJ so far..
