What will Cousins fetch on the open market

Slowing down the rebuild would not sit well with Jets fans that are already complaining, unfairly, that it is taking too long.
i believe the real issue ( for me at least) is, we are rebuilding with a GM who can't draft & a HC who has little to no feel for the job..

To hit on 1 or 2 players each draft that stand out is a slow rebuild. Not to mention not having a Franchise QB. In my mind, this is a big Draft and FA period for Mac. Either sign or Draft our future QB while having a good solid Draft. Starters, future Pro-Bowl players not just bodies to fil out a roster.

I expected they would before this.
They we're terrible last year but we can't discount the injuries they had. I hate to say Barkley, (2) is still insanely high for a RB, but they have been desperate for a run game for years. With ODB, Sheppard, Lewis add a FA WR, Engram at TE, and Barkley, Eli could realistically thrive for a few more seasons.
They could also trade back, rebuild the O line and take Michel and say Penny.
They are sitting pretty nicely.
Could the Cardinals try and work a trade for Eli.
Small window for both, 2 time SuperBowl MVP for 3 years could make sense. Plus it's Win Win for both sides. Giants get an extra pick, second round maybe, Cards actually go from no QB to Eli.

Anyone else remember the last Penn State RB to be drafted #2 overall?

You may be right but doing anything else that would slow down the rebuild would likely be too painful for most Jets fans.

Blair Thomas , but there is no comparison between the two.
I'm not in favor of drafting a RB high. But Barkley is probably the best talent in this draft and he will likely go early.
Plus he would give the Giants offense what they have been lacking.

That is for 3 years.
Considering he played with the wrist injury since the end of 16, he should improve significantly now that it's been surgically repaired.
It's a fair deal. He had 19 guaranteed for 2019 , Now $26 guaranteed so not much has changed and I bet it is structured to give a lower cap hit in 2018.

This continues to show that giving Cousins $30mm per, will put him only in the top 10-15 in 2-3 years. By then the following QB's will be higher paid...

Russell Wilson
Cam Newtown
Andrew Luck
Ben
Jameis
Aaron Rodgers
Matt Ryan
Dak Prescott
???

Any team that pays Jameis Winston $30M are fools. He is not that good and an immature prick. Hmmm I know a QB that is the same way and people should take note that Jameis hasn't changed one bit. People thought he would, but I had a feeling he wouldn't and I have a feeling about that OU child.

From profootballtalk.com:
Then there were four. Eventually there will be one. And one of the four thinks the one will be the Vikings.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports that the Jets are taking the Minnesota threat seriously “after some informal, preliminary talks with his camp this week.”

Yes, informal, preliminary talks technically are prohibited. But they happen, every year involving every team. Any team that isn’t doing it has put itself at a competitive disadvantage. So if the Jets have had informal, preliminary talks with the Cousins camp, the Vikings have, too, and the planets are starting to align as to the quarterback’s future.

The Jets, per Vacchiano, have heard enough to move on to “Plans B and C and, if possibly D” at quarterback. Although the Jets believe, per Vacchiano, that they can offer more money and a better structure to Cousins, the Jets fear that Cousins would take less to go to Minnesota for a better chance to win.

In a Super Bowl week visit to PFT Live, Cousins spoke about the balance between taking less to win and getting full and fair franchise quarterback compensation.

The Vikings continue to be the ultimate wild card in the coming quarterback chase. With three of their own unrestricted free agents on the roster and multiple other options elsewhere (Cousins, A.J. McCarron, and theoretically Drew Brees), the Vikings have plenty of choices. The problem is that they eventually choose one, at the exclusion of all others.

Vikings G.M. Rick Spielman recently joined PFT Live to discuss the situation. Watch the interview and search for clues. For example, when Spielman says they plan to make a decision by March 14, does that mean they’re leaning toward re-signing one of their own? Or would they do a Brock Osweiler-style sight-unseen deal with someone they don’t know?

Spielman regards the situation as more blessing than curse, but there could be plenty of cursing if they pick the wrong guy — and if the guys they don’t pick end up thriving elsewhere. [h=3]Share this:[/h]
I'll say this, if Cousins takes less and goes to the Vikings, anything short of the Super Bowl should be veiwed as a down season. They just reached the championship game with Case Keenum, a career back up that had a career year.Did the light go on for Keenum? was the team so strong around him that it didn't matter who QB'ed it??
If Cousin signs on, that'll be the pressure he is under. Superbowl or bust and at 30 million a year to boot.
For the Jets, the team to sign Cousins, if not them, needs to be the Broncos. If only to take them out of the draft QB derby at pick #5.

I really think the Jets are going to get Cousins.

I don't. If I was Cousin, I would go after the best opportunity to get a SB ring. He has made a ton of money and will make a lot more with the Vikings. The Jets should start with Plan B while planning to draft a QB at #6 or higher.

Oh I agree I wouldn't choose the Jets either, but I have a feeling he will go with the Jets because the Jets will crush any other offer out there.

Have to agree completely. Zimmer at his combine presser, went as far as to say "If we pick the wrong QB this off season, I will be fired"
The Bikes and whoever their QB ends up being are Super Bowl or bust. Especially if they pay Cousins, because Diggs, Barr, Kendricks and others are all due big money next year and signing Cousins means at least 2 pro bowl players walk after the season.
I think Denver is out at this point but we won't really know for another 6 days

I'm not sure Cousin's is really Mac's plan A.
i personally would love to see Cousin's on the Jets Roster but don't believe Mac will make an excessive offer.
I'm starting to think Cousins may be looking for a short term deal , king of like LeBron when he returned to the Cavs. Knowing the QB salaries will be climbing, he can get paid now, and again at 32.
I can't see him taking less money, remember his repeatedly saying he has to do what's right for all QBs for the past 2 1/2 -3 years while negotiations with Washington we're on going. He can't simply take less money now after all that talking about what's best for his fellow Players.
