I don’t think it’s that bad. Sure, we still don’t have a QB, and there are holes on both sides of the ball, but the talent isn’t limited to Adams and Maye. Leonard Williams, Darron Lee is improving, we have a few good wide receivers in Kearse and Enunwa, and we really only need a Center to bring the o-line up to respectability.

There’s still more work to do. And Macc has whiffed on Petty and Hackenberg. But we can turn this thing around in a hurry if we hit on a QB in the draft (or somehow get Cousins), and land a couple of good non-QB FA’s.

I think you're right. The team isn't as bad as some are thinking. Sure we only won five but there were close games as well and these guys played with heart. Filling some of these holes shouldn't be that difficult. We have the money. The important one is, as you say, the QB. Then add a good left tackle, a running back, a center, and a couple of good corners and receiver and we could be at least competitive. There are good prospects in the draft for most of those positions.
