I think free agency has so far been brilliant. An elite CB1 in his prime who will only help the young safeties and give the Jets a legit secondary, an upgrade at center, a linebacker who does all the things Davis did, but younger and for cheaper, a young running back who can replace Forte and catch the ball out of the backfield.

Sure, I'd love for the Jets to have traded a seventh rounder for Goff or Wentz. And I suppose if you simplify the game to it being only about having a QB with name recognition, the Jets may have disappointed. But the entire team is significantly better than last year's team, and the QB situation is one where a young drafted QB could flourish.

I don’t understand how even the most pessimistic Jets fan could not be a little happy with the moves Macc has made. Cousins made a smart decision going to Minnesota. He got everything he wanted in that deal, including a lot of guaranteed money. Macc did the smart thing bringing back McCown, who can still play as evidenced by last year, and he’s a perfect role model for the younger QB’s. Bridgewater is low risk/high reward on a “prove it” deal, and has shown he can be a starting QB in this league.

We get arguably the top FA CB in TJ. A quality Center in Long, a versatile RB, and a runstuffing ILB to replace DD. And we have three draft picks in the top 50, including the #6 overall. We’ll get a quality player there.

I think there’s reason for optimism.

Great posts Sack and BlindsideBrick. Totally agree. I think the missing piece is to resign Claiborne. But they definitely upgraded the roster at key spots.

Isaiah Crowell is a POS

Sucks as RB too, so what was the point?

I’m no fan of anti-police sentiment, either. The kid made a dumb social media post. Then he deleted it, and donated a large sum of money to a police charity. Doesn’t make it 100% right. But at least he recognized that it was problematic (to say the least).

I’m sure every team has a few “less than intelligent” players on their roster. Richie Incognito has said some stupid things, too. Riley Cooper dropped an N-bomb in public that went on the internet. Point is, these aren’t choir boys playing football.

I’m going to give Crowell the benefit of the doubt and hope he doesn’t do anything else while he’s here. Give the guy a chance. Sometimes these are isolated incidents. We all make mistakes.

I could care less what Crowell said, we all make mistakes. I love the signings except for Crowell and Long. I believe we can get a lot better RB and Center in the Draft. It seems like we always had that dominating Center. Long is an upgrade over Johnson then again, anyone is an upgrade over Johnson. I am hoping that Bridgewater can revert back to his old self and we can use the 6th pick on a need position. If we can hit on our first 4 picks in the Draft, we can reestablish ourselves as a Playoff contending team. Ham, stay positive.

I’m sensing a big slowdown from this point on in FA. Macc will probably sign one or two more middle tier backup types. I feel like a few positions need some more attention: DE, OLB, WR. (Not sure what the team thinks about Kony Ealy, and Robby Anderson’s situation is unsettled).

Anyone know how much money we have left?

I don't care if Isaiah Crowell is Jack the Ripper, my promise is, he sucks, and besides that, this is a deep RB class. Total waste of money on the type of RB you could just as easily have drafted in the mid to late rounds, or better yet, upgrade (big time) in RD 2 with someone like Rashaad Penny.

Typical Jets move, totally pointless.

Fair enough, but I think saying Crowell “sucks” might be a little over the top. 853 yards, 4.1 ypc, 182 receiving yards, and only one fumble all season. Crowell is a very good short yardage power back. A guy who will stick his nose in there on 3rd and 1. I view him as a complimentary RB to Powell and McGuire.

I don’t think this takes RB off the board. If one of those 2nd round backs is available and Macc really likes one, he’ll take one. We’ve got two 2nd round picks. Then you move on from McGuire.

why would this preclude the jets from drafting a RB? crowell has a $2MM cap hit this year and if they cut bait with him after a year, it's a $4MM hit next year. hardly break-the-bank money. powell is getting up there in years (for a RB) and mcguire has proven nothing. crowell may be nothing special, but he's not being paid a ton

Agree but I think if we do draft a RB , Powell would be released. McGuire flashed last year and he is young. Powell could even bring a pick for 2019.

Jets have done very well to this point.......The Cardinals are sucking eggs now

You need to broker a deal between the Jets and Cardinals. Give them the 6 for their 1st 2nd and next year's 1st. They can salvage their off season and set us up nicely for next year.

I am lost on what the cards are thinking........They can only trade-up at this point for a top top top qb. Poor Larry will have to stay three more years now. As far as the Jets I am very happy with all they have done. (except for JM) but we can't have everything.

If the Jets can pull a pass rusher out of a hat, they might have one of the better D's in the league . Think Macc has done a good job so far, and still has about half his money left to wait for some other players to free up. I expect to see Sheldon once he realizes he's not getting top dollar.

There are a few who may come available due to cap space. I'm sure Mac will still be adding some players. Lawrence or Ziggy Ansah would have been nice but we're tagged.
