Jets acquire 3rd pick from Colts

wait, are you also trying to make a case for doing anything at 3 aside from taking one of the big 4 QBs??

Well, lets just say I'm not 100% sold on any of these top college prospects. If I were to pick a player that I was pretty sure won't be a bust it would be Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson. However we need a QB so badly that after trading up we have to take a crack at one. I just hope it doesn't come back and bite us in the rear.

If the Jets had a long term QB solution on the roster, yes, then you pick a sure thing prospect (Barkley, Chubb, Nelson). But in a strong QB class with a glaring need at the most important position on the field, this decision is easy. I don’t think the Jets are settling for the 3rd best QB. I think they’ve got 3 QB’s rated closer to each other than what people are assuming. And that’s why Macc moved to 3. He’s 100% confident he’s going to get a QB he wants.

I'm sure he's 100% confident, just as he was previously. I just hope he gets it right this time. I was only saying that I would be more confident in those 3 not being a bust than I would any of the QB prospects. I too would pick a QB just because it is a glaring need and we have to get that franchise guy as soon as possible and the odds are pretty good this time that we get it right. There's just no guarantee any of them won't be a bust and that was my point.

We're all hoping Mac gets it right at QB. Unfortunately, he may only be getting his third choice. So there's gonna have to be an element of Jet luck that happens. Maybe the Namath curse has finally expired after 50 years and we finally get our guy.. I'm not above begging..

Its really impressive in college. Just draft Chubb and have an elite defense. None of these QB's are can't miss.

Chubb may very well fall to the 3rd round. Wouldnt mind having an elite defense (in the making), a steller RB in Chubb and of course, Mayfield leading this franchise into the right direction.

like I posted in another topic today was last day for private visits and Jets brought in ER Lorenzo Carter from UGA, he is projected as a mid to late 2nd and had a great visit today... We already struck gold with one Georgia Bulldog why not double down even if we have to trade up back into the second to land him... It would be hard pressed to imaging L.C. will fall into the third round, but anything is possible...

as for RB, the Jets are locked into a few but the one I keep hearing that is a likely target is a 6th round option (Chase Edmonds, Fordham)

Josh Allen said he'd relish the opportunity to play in Gotham and rescue the Jets from quarterback purgatory.

"Absolutely," he said Friday in a phone interview with ESPN. "They’re a couple of pieces away from winning a lot of football games. I really enjoyed the coaching staff and I think it would be a really good fit. I think they’ve got some weapons on offense and they have a really young defense that’s ready to win right now."

This might go down as the smartest trade in Jets franchise history.

Or the dumbest ... it all depends on whether or not they hit the bullseye with this pick.

If they snag an elite FQB with this pick, without question it goes down as the smartest trade in Jets history.

If they draft a bust, without question it goes down as one of the dumbest.

That said, I give Mac a lot of credit for having the guts to do this, cause he knows the stakes.

Maccagnan needed to hit a homerun with this pick either way. You cannot start a rebuild without the most important spot on the team devoid of talent. The swing and miss on Petty isn't soo bad because he was a fourth rounder. The swing and miss on Hackenberg is much worse because he was a 2nd rounder and could not even play his way on the field for a regular season snap.
He has to hit on this third pick and hit big. This pick needs to bean above average starter sooner rather than latter.

if woody's brother is truly holding maccagnan's feet to the fire, the rookie QB needs to look like he belongs almost immediately.. OTAs, training camp, pre season, you name it..

mind you, i'm not saying the rookie needs to force his way onto the field week 1.. no real rush anymore really.. whoever we get at 3 will outlast this regime regardless, so i can afford to be somewhat patient..

LOLz besides i think bowles' head might pop off his shoulders if he committed himself to a rookie QB week one!!

oh, poor coach bowles..

I can see that and agree with this move all the way. Gotta put it out there to get what you want and need. The Tom Brady’s and Russell Wilson’s of the world have come few and very far in between. Most if not teams that want that guy have to pull moves like this to get their guy. We’re no different!!! I personally don’t care which QB they draft I just hope it’s the right guy. I’m tired of swaying my feelings a certain way only to be disappointed in them picking someone else or actually drafting the guy and he stinks. So I’ll just stay out of it and just hope for the best.
