It's dead even, Allen and Mayfield. I picked Allen, largely because Mayfield's off the field issues trouble me. I think Mayfield might be more ready to play in some respects (anticipation, play-making ability and accuracy). I think Allen has a higher upside and is more comfortable in a pro system. Allen's floor is Hackenberg. Mayfield's floor is Manziel. Neither are appealing. Allen's ceiling is limitless, and Mayfield's ceiling is probably somewhere in between Brees and Russell Wilson - maybe Fran Tarkenton is the best comparison. So the upside is there for both players. I just went with Allen because of his incredible physical skills. I don't see him as Jamarcus Russell - he's got a different makeup. He's more like Hackenberg, great kid, good intangibles and work ethic, etc. He just has to be able to put it all together and become a more accurate thrower of the football. Hackenberg couldn't get there, at least not yet. Mayfield is already pretty accurate and throws with pretty good anticipation. It would be a tough call.
If Rosen is there, I think they should take him. He's smart and can do it all. His upside to me is Aaron Rodgers without the same scrambling ability. But he has that type of arm, flawless mechanics, and intelligence. His floor is, I don't know who - I hear Jeff George and Jay Cutler a lot, so we'll go with that.

I peronally feel that the only QB the Giants will take is Darnold.If the Browns pick Allen Darnold is a Giant, If Darnold goes to the Brownies,then i think Barkely or Nelson is the call for the Giants. Either way i think it's Rosen for the Jets, which is who i'd like anyway.
I believe the Giants are in the perfect situation. They could either take a QB with the 2nd pick or trade out with Buffalo for a Kings ransom. They could get a deal similar what St.Louis got with Washington in the RGIII trade. With the future picks they can package a trade for a QB in next years Draft.
The Giants ARE CLEARLY in the catbird seat. They don't have a glaring need at QB, and could stay at #2 and pick one of elite players (Barkley, Nelson, Chubb, or Fitzpatrick) at areas of need. They could also stay and pick their QB of the future. WORST case is they trade down with the likes of Buffalo for a kings ransom, or more likely with Denver. To me, Denver would be the most advantageous trading partner because at #5 they could still pick one of the aforementioned elite prospects at an area of need, and have extra picks as a bonus.
Also my dream but that's what it is exactly, a pipe dream. Hard to believe the Browns don't take Darnold and I would bet the Giants trade number 2 to Denver or the Bills and they take Rosen. My pick would be Mayfield but would rather have had Rosen...
By the freakin way - Wonder if the Giants and Jets have an understanding that they won't trade with each other. Why else would the Jets not even call the Giants about number two. If the Giants wanted to trade out the Jets offer was more than fair. Why would Mac or Johnson not even phone Gettleman or Mara to gauge their interest. This one pick could haunt the Jets for the next 15 years if the QB picked right in front of them goes on to stardom..
i grant that citing one player with a low college completion percentage who went on to great success in the pros doesn't mean the same will apply to others. and there are many examples of players with low completion percentages who flopped as pros. but an interesting stat i saw was that brett favre had a career 52.4% completion percentage in college (40.7, 55.8%, 54.1%, 54.5%). matthew stafford had a 57.1% percentage (slightly better than allen's 56.2%).

IMO the smart pick for the Giants is either Barkley or Chubb. Barkley would be a huge relief valve for Eli, and that offense could really use a game changer at RB. And after letting JPP go, Chubb becomes a need pick.
I’m praying this is what they’re thinking. But you just know some team like Buffalo is going to throw the farm at them, jump us at #2, and take Rosen.
Darnold and Rosen off the board is the worst case scenario for the Jets IMO. Ugh.

I think Allen has the biggest potential in every area at QB including number 1 on Wonderlick score. But Mayfield has proven it in games coming as a walk on to proving he can play. Me I would take Allen! Too much raw talent, size, arm strength over Mayfield. After Drafting Allen, I would then hire the BEST QB Coach in the NFL to teach him for 1-2 years. At least 1 year. Jets needs to pay whatever it takes on a QB Coach if Drafting Allen to insure we get the most from him. Many others feel the same like Phil Simms that Jets cant pass on this kind of QB if Allen falls in Jets lap. I like Allen & Mayfield equal but feel the upside with Allen is to great to pass up.

Well it is the Jets so anything stupid you can think of the Jets can pull off.
To use a baseball analogy, the difference between Mayfield and Allen is the difference between a pitcher and a thrower. There have been many pitchers who had great fastballs, but not command of them. And they have failed. But the guys who "know how to pitch" succeed far beyond their measurables. That's why I voted Mayfield.

My read is that Darnold will be gone by the 3rd pick, most likely going #1 to the Browns - that means the Jets are going to be left at the very least with a choice of either Allen or Rosen. I just don't see them taking Mayfield, who offers a lot to like, but appears to be at a rung below Rosen & Allen.
