Ndamukong Suh update: #Suh tells me that the #Jets have emerged as a serious contender, alongside the #Titans, #Rams and #Saints (in no particular order). While a visit to NY has yet to be facilitated, Todd Bowles/the Jets have informed Suh precisely how they envision using him.

The Jets rescinded their offer to free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, acting owner Christopher Johnson told reporters on Sunday.

Really ? I heard that he had cancelled all further visits and would decide based on visits already taken where he would go. Interesting. He's 31 but still plays like a 25 year old so maybe the Jets would think he fits their getting younger philosophy.

Its a GOOD THING to have a guy on your defense who the other team KNOWS he is vicious and outright tries to hurt people.

Sound like an exaggeration? Hardly. Suh is a loose cannon and a dirty player. Talent-wise, his production slipped with Miami.

Will it matter?? The Jets aren't winning more than 7 games this season.

Not sure I buy this report. Signing Suh would be inconsistent with what we're doing. And from a character standpoint, I'm not sure how he fits.

I’ve been 100% on board the Mike Maccagnan Train this off season. Loved everything he’s done. From FA to the move up to #3 for a QB.

But signing Suh would be a big turn down a potentially problematic path. I’m shocked by this report. He is the last guy I would’ve expected us to be interested in.

No more “ME” guys on the d-line. Been there done that!

You young guys don't understand. I hate to sound like the old man on the block, waxing poetic about "the good old days", but Joe Greene (one of many examples) made Suh seem like a choirboy. Even Lawrence Taylor probably belonged in an insane asylum if he wasn't getting paid for it in the NFL. Ditto Jack Lambert and a million others. Suh is shocking to younger football fans, but believe me, to the older HOFers he's just another guy.

Heck, guys like Deacon Jones and Dick Butkus openly waxed poetic about KILLING PEOPLE on the football field.

Suh would be a giant upgrade to our D line.
He graded #2 in the league vs the run for all d lineman in the league last season and had the 3 highest graded seasons of his career the past 3 years.
Not seeing much of a decline there.
He has been praised by coaches and teammates and has no off field issues. Has seemed to improve on the unsportsmanlike penalties over the past 3 seasons too. I can only think of the 1 where Mallett went after him and he shoved him away by the neck.

Yes, a different era when that type of stuff was accepted as part of the game. I’m no youngster. I remember LT and players like him.

Thats fine, times change and you have to change with them, but don't EVER kid yourself into thinking pro football is anything but a collision sport played by violent men, and that EVERY TEAM needs a Kong Suh, a guy who is liable to take your head off at at given moment, just because he likes it.

This definitely is not in line with what Mac has done so far however, given the holes he's filled and the cap space we have left, I don't have a problem with signing veterans to fill the remaining gaps, as long as it's not more than a one year deal with a team option. Suh's numbers were better than Leo's last year and he definitely has gas left in the tank. He could make this defense really really good.

If they add Bradley Chubb at #3 they could be throwing shutouts this season! Just kidding.
