Considering the relatively low voter turnout, I think its fair to say the lead Josh Rosen has opened up in this poll is pretty much insurmountable.

Therefore the Jets are in and according to the JFU community, at least those who were willing to participate, the TOP 3 projects as follows:

1. BROWNS - Sam Darnold, QB, USC
2. GIANTS - Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
3. JETS - Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

I think Mac loves Josh Allen and would be very glad if he's there at #2. I think the Bills are hot for Allen and may move up two more times to get him. I can see them trading with the Colts to #6 and then trading that pick (and move) to the G-Men.

I hope that happens and then Rosen can fall to the Jets. Allen scares me.

No, no, no. Mayfield is NOT having sex with a transvestite.

He might have sex with a crossed-eyed Nun holding a bull whip and a bottle of gin. But that’s entirely a private matter. None of our business.

(Carlin anyone?)

If it were Carlin, wouldn't he say the crossed eyed Nun would be wearing a Bugs Bunny outfit and using a steel dildo instead of the whip? (yes, I remember that routine) LOL!

Yes that one works, too. In the Easter spirit, throw in a bunny outfit.

This is how I expect the draft to go, and want the draft to go.

Which means it won’t go this way at all.

I change my mind every day as to my preference. My main concerns about Rosen concern whether or not he can be the leader of the team. Does he command respect in the locker room? None of us knows the answer. I found it concerning last week when Jim Mora, Rosen's former coach said that the Browns should take Darnold first, mainly because of his leadership traits. From a mechanical point of view, Rosen is the obvious choice. However, i believe that the ability to be the team's leader is perhaps even more important in football. These concerns have been expressed in the media all year, but I have never heard of or seen a strong reaction by Rosen's teammates in his defense. I wonder if Rosen may be seen as *too* Intelligent by his teammates. I was a high school teacher for 45 years and constantly saw how my school's athletes reacted to nerds," brainiacs," etc. It wasn't rational, but those reactions are quite common. Mayfield, on the other hand, has exactly what I'm talking about, in spades. His teammates would have run through a wall for him. If only he were 2 inches taller. If only Allen were more accurate. Sigh.

[h=1]http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/story/_/id/23002211/former-ucla-coach-jim-mora-says-quarterback-josh-rosen-needs-challenged-reach-potential

Ex-UCLA coach Jim Mora says QB Josh Rosen 'needs to be challenged'[/h] Jim Mora made headlines last week when he said on NFL Network that, if he were making the Cleveland Browns' pick at No. 1, he would select USC quarterback Sam Darnold over his former UCLA QB, Josh Rosen.

Mora cited "fit" and "blue-collar, gritty attitude" for why Darnold was better for the Browns than Rosen, who he coached with the Bruins the past three seasons. Mora was fired by UCLA in November.

In an interview Sunday with Sports Illustrated, Mora stood by his opinion that Darnold is a better fit for the Browns. He added that he believes Rosen "is the No. 1 quarterback in the draft" and a "franchise-changer," but said that whichever team drafts him will need to challenge him.

"He needs to be challenged intellectually so he doesn't get bored. He's a millennial. He wants to know why. Millennials, once they know why, they're good. Josh has a lot of interests in life. If you can hold his concentration level and focus only on football for a few years, he will set the world on fire. He has so much ability, and he's a really good kid," Mora told Sports Illustrated.

Mora said he hasn't been contacted by any NFL teams yet to give his evaluation of Rosen.

Thanks for the link. The most striking thing about it is the lack of due diligence by the teams seeking intel on Rosen. I absolutely expected that we'd have seen numerous comments or leaks by now concerning how Rosen's coaches and teammates felt about him. Hopefully the Jets have done their due diligence, but nothing has leaked out. I actually think that is what has gone on. Mac is very good at keeping things to himself, but why wouldn't he have contacted Mora? Still, I haven't seen anything from Rosen's teammates. Usually reporters will interview them to try to gain a sense of the lockerroom. Cimini, Mehta, etc., let's see some reporting.

is there a sports job more mentally challenging than an NFL QB? He's coming to the right place if he wants mental stimulation. He certainly didn't get it at UCLA - wasn't impressed with the receiving corps he was stuck with. Durability should be a bigger issue with this guy than his level of interest - he was pretty brittle at UCLA.

first and foremost when you look at an NFL QB prospect is how big is the brain. You can't win on the field if you don't have it between the ears - and this guy has it in spades. So does Allen apparently scoring a 37 on the Wonderlic. Rosen-29...Darnold-28.....Baker-25......Lamar Jackson-13 YIKES. I'm not sure what to make of these scores besides being impressed with Allen at the top and scared of Jackson at the bottom.

"He's a millennial. He wants to know why. Millennials, once they know why, they're Wouldn't every player in this draft a millennial?
Some Quotes from his teammates:
Left tackle Kolton Miller also said that he disagreed with the Rosen is difficult to get along with narrative.

“Josh came in No. 1 high school guy, a little cocky, of course you hear off campus stuff about him, but as the years went on he really matured, he’s really well-rounded, he doesn’t try to be more than what he has to be, a really good leader. I don’t really have anything negative to say about him,” Miller said
Scott Quensberry “I don’t know where it comes from. It drives me insane. I have a really good relationship with Josh, and I think he’ll tell you the same thing about me and we talk, and for him to get the rap that he gets, it’s BS because of the type of guy that he is and the type of stand up human being that he is and the type of pro that he’s going to be,” Quessenberry said. “He’s a great dude, I love hanging around him and being with him, and whoever gets him is extremely lucky. They’re getting a once in a millennium talent in my opinion.”
“We see him every day, we work with him every day,” Quessenberry said. “We know the type of guy he is, the type of teammate, the type of player he is. The type of grade-A human being he is.”

Quessenberry talked up Rosen’s leadership, talking about a time last season when he pulled the offense together and vocally admonished his teammates to correct some issues. Quessenberry said his message was heeded, and the Bruins averaged 32.5 points per game.

“He’s going to be a great locker room guy and people are going to ride behind him,” Quessenberry said. “He loves the game and learning about the game.”
Quessenberry on how Rosen responded to adversity: "He performed great in situations where we needed him to perform great. Our backs were against the wall against Texas A&M and we looked to him to lead us, and he did that. ... When things go wrong and things aren't looking the way you want them to look, Josh is the guy you want to have in the backfield commanding the offense and making all the throws and making all the reads."

Miller on rumor team didn't rally around Rosen: "No, I mean, our offense was a pretty tight clique. I don't believe that at all."

Quessenberry on how Rosen has been outspoken on issues in college football: "We're always in tune with the latest lawsuits and stuff like that and that's because of Josh. Josh is very insightful on things going on in college football. He wants to be an advocate for players in college football. He loved being in college and loved playing in college and loved the relationships that he made and he wants to see everyone from No. 1 to No. 120 get the same treatment. That means he's going to rub some people outside of college football the wrong way. It doesn't bother him because he knows in that elusive college football fraternity, the people that are going to support him are the people that are his contemporaries."

Miller on outside perception of Rosen: "It seems like there's a little negativity from previous questions. But I don't see the politics, I think he's a great guy, well rounded, a talented player, does his work on and off the field. And he proves it every week."

Quessenberry on how Rosen has matured: "Everybody loves Josh. You saw progression year after year of the type of leader he's going to be and he's still only a kid. People forget these true juniors that are coming out early are 19 or 20 years old still. He's going to progress as a leader throughout his career and just continue to grow up. He's a tremendous football player, there's no doubt. He can make all the throws, make all the reads. He can carve up a defense. But the type of leader, the type of person that he's going to get, he's going to be a great locker room guy and people are going to rally behind him."

Miller on if Rosen is a strong leader: "Yeah, I would say so. He always did his work on the field and always off the field. He probably worked the hardest off the field. Really smart guy. Really well respected."

Quessenberry on if Rosen is all about football: "I would say yes. He's always up late studying film. Sometimes he doesn't watch pro football, but a lot of guys don't. He does watch it more than a lot of people do, but that's another question that's arisen and I don't understand where that comes from either. He loves the game. He loves learning about the game, and learning all the ways he can get better."

Miller on why teams should draft Rosen: "We had a pretty productive offense, I'd say, this year. I would want to pick him if I were the team choosing. What does he do wrong? That's the question. Of course, I don't watch him as much as other people, I just try to protect him."

Quessenberry on if Rosen gets bad rap for being outspoken: "I don't know. I don't know when people started raising red flags for boisterous opinions. I don't know why that's something you wouldn't like. Somebody who's opinionated or passionate about something ... he knows what he likes and he knows what he wants for other people. He wants to win mainly too. I don't know why you wouldn't want to draft that as a quarterback."
Miller on if Rosen is misunderstood: "I think so. There's been some negative stigmas about him. Coming from a player, he's a great player, he does everything right, well rounded, nothing negative to say about him."

Josh Rosen
“I think if you can get three or four reads into your progression, you give yourself more opportunities down the field. If you’re a one-two-and-run guy and you throw the ball 40 times a game — in the NFL 30 times a game — you’re giving yourself 70-80 opportunities to get the ball down the field. If you can get into 1, 2, 3 and 4, you’re giving yourself 150-160 — twice as many opportunities to get the ball down the field. That’s what I think my best attribute is. I can sit in the pocket and really pick defenses apart.”
Definitely too smart. With that attitude and mindset, who would draft him.....:global (14):

No, those quotes we're from the combine when Rosen's teammates we're interviewed.
I believe Hobson's link was the Jim Mora interview.
