Wheeling and dealing...

Given the uncertainty of this year's draft I think the draft day trading will be active. If the Browns take Darnold first I can see Gettleman taking call after call. The Bills will offer #12 and a combination of 2018/19 second and third round picks. Denver offers #5 and a second in '18 and '19. Gettleman is about to agree to that trade when the Bills call back and, after trading up to #6 with Indy, offer #6, a third rounder this year and next year's first. It's a deal and Josh Allen heads to upstate New York!

With the Jets on the clock a trade war breaks out between the Browns and the Broncos both wanting to move up to #3 to get their guy. The Browns want to make sure they get Sequon and by surprise so do the Broncos! As soon as the Bills got Allen, Elway changed gears. Mac is telling Cleveland he would gladly move back two slots and still get his QB at #5 and recoup a second round pick from Denver. The Browns offer the #4 pick and a second round pick in '18 AND '19. The deal is done! Mac moves back to #4, Cleveland take Sequon and Mac still gets his guy Baker Mayfield.

Elway is crying in his Rocky Mountain Oysters when Trader Mikey Tannenbaum calls with a deal too good to pass up. Tanny is hot for Josh Rosen and offers Denver #11, a third rounder in '18 and a second rounder in '19. Josh Rosen to Miami!

Wait, there's more! With the Big Four off the board the hot name is Lamar Jackson. The G-men are up at #6 and the calls continue. Arizona is desperate for a QB not named Sam Bradford and offers #15 and next year's first round pick to nab the former Cardinal. Done! The Giants now pick at #15, take their future LT in Mike McGlinchey and now have two third round picks this year and THREE first round picks next year.

Can you please flow chart that?
Later

I will after I take a nap. I'm dizzy!

Ok, let's recap.

#1 Cleveland - Sam Darnold
#2 Buffalo - Josh Allen
#3 Cleveland - Sequon Barkley
#4 NY Jets - Baker Mayfield
#5 Miami - Josh Rosen
#6 Arizona - Lamar Jackson

Jets get #64 (second round) and Cleveland's second round pick next year. And with the #64 pick, Mac takes his LT of the future in Desmond Harrison (West Georgia).
Giants get #15 this year, Buffalo's third round pick this year, Buffalo's first round pick next year and Arizona's first round pick next year.

That's quite a haul for both New York (Jersey) teams!

Kill me now if the Jets take Mayziel over Rosen. I will seriously question being a fan of the Jets. I do that daily anyway, but Mayziel will push me over the edge I fear.

Nothing like bringing up old painful memories on a beautiful day! :)

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, the amount of uncertainty in this year's draft is remarkable. To Mac's credit, no one has any idea how they are prioritizing the Big Four. While I am praying for a franchise QB, at the very least I'm hoping for a solid QB who can lead this team and it's up-and-coming defense to the promised land. I would love a clone of Big Ben but at the very least Mac needs to get a Kirk Cousins (Cousin's cousin?). Before everyone goes apoplectic, I know that three second rounders is a ton for a non-franchise QB, but if a Cousins clone becomes our next QB, it would still have been worth it.

I expect a lot of deals in the first round. Teams are going to be maneuvering for the QB’s. Once the first two QB’s go off the board, you’re gonna see teams trying to move up for the others.

This is going to be an exciting and eventful draft. If the Jets could somehow move back a spot with CLE, still get their guy, and recoup a 2nd round pick, that would be ideal. But the main thing is that they get a QB they really like, and he’s the guy moving forward.
