If Mac ignores the center position again, he will be making a big mistake. If he selects another receiver before round 7 I think that will be a mistake. If he doesn't try to get some pass rushing help, then I don't know what he's thinking. And of course, if he doesn't try to get a G/T then I just give up.

the names that are italic are the prospects that the team showed the most interest...

private visit, combine, workout, pro day -- only one on this list did they do all four and he is listed at the top, a late 2nd round prospect who could fall to the 3rd round due to teams need at this point... I do know they are likely to pickup at least one interior lineman in the 5th or 6th round... The kid from Maine listed as a tackle would likely kick inside at this level as his knee bend is worse then Brandon Shell who is stiff like cardboard playing right tackle...

Here is some insight on the players who could be drafted by us and would be a welcomed addition:

3rd Round: DT/NT Derrick Nnadi from FSU

Listed at 6-foot-1, 312 pounds, Nnadi is not the largest nose tackle in front of scouts during the 2017 season. Few will outwork him, however, as he was named a third-team All-ACC selection, compiling 56 tackles, 10 for loss, and 3.5 sacks in 13 starts. ACC coaches named him first-team all-conference in 2016 after earning the team's Defensive Most Improved Player award in the spring.

It's hard to find "bad tape" for Nnadi. While NFL teams may see an undersized nose tackle with limited pass rush value, one could see a player with good power at the point of attack who can dislodge from single blocks and make plays. Nnadi has a good motor, active hands and enough pass rush ability to cause problems for blockers up front. Nnadi has the physical tools to play in one or two-gap schemes and has NFL starting ability.

4th Round: CB Christian Campbell, PSU

It's no surprise that Campbell became a reliable member of the secondary for Penn State, given that his high school head coach was former Alabama All-American and NFL defender Woodrow Lowe. It took him a while to earn playing time, however, because of the talent in the Nittany Lions' secondary. He started one game as a true freshman.

Campbell is a long corner lacking the fluidity and twitch to stay connected with intermediate and deep routes. He looks more comfortable playing off the line where his long arms have a shot to cover for his inconsistent footwork. He's not a fluid enough athlete and hasn't made enough plays on the ball to warrant much excitement.

5th Round: OG Matt Gono, Wesley

Gono has long arms and possesses the desired physical traits teams covet from small-school, developmental prospects. He overwhelmed inferior competition with his size and talent on the Division III level but will need more coaching and technique work before he is ready to match up against NFL talent. Gono flashes ideal bend and athletic ability on tape but needs more consistent aggression to handle guard responsibilities. Gono could be a late round stash-and-coach project with average upside.

6th Round: RB Chase Edmonds, Fordham

Despite being ultra-productive at Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, major college programs didn't offer Edmonds because of his lack of size and inability to run away from defenders in the open field. The first-team All-State pick and MVP of the heralded Big 33 All-Star game (Pennsylvania versus Ohio) has shown those big-time programs that he has the talent to excel at any level.

Edmonds is a highly productive runner with a compact frame, good agility and plus athletic traits. While he flourished against a lower level of competition, he may find that he's unable to beat NFL defenses with burst alone. Edmonds needs to play with more consistent pace and decisiveness to reach his potential. He has the talent to fit into a committee approach but could be limited to more outside running duties.

7th Round: K Mike Badgley, Miami (Fla.)

This New Jersey native played football, hockey, and lacrosse in high school, but didn't follow in his brother's footsteps to play lacrosse in college (Pete is a goalie at Providence). After completing his high school career, Badgley attended Fork Union Military College for one year before enrolling at Miami. He earned the kicking job as a true freshman, connecting on 14-of-18 field goals (0-of-2 from 50-plus yards) and 34-of-38 extra point attempts.

Experienced kicker with decent accuracy under 50 yards, but troubling accuracy beyond that mark. Badgley's inability to hammer kickoffs with consistent leg strength will also hurt his cause.

Priority FA: OLB Jermaine Carter, Maryland

"Pee Wee" Carter has been a big story for the Terrapins the past three seasons. He played as a reserve in all 13 games of his redshirt freshman season (27 tackles, led team with two forced fumbles) before taking on that leadership role.

Nicknamed "Pee Wee" at an early age, Carter is a hungry inside linebacker with a track record of durability and production despite being so lightly recruited coming out. Carter's chances of making a team could be hurt by his lack of size and instincts for an inside linebacker. If Carter can prove to be the special teams demon we saw as a freshman and sophomore at Maryland, his ability to cover and handle core special teams duties could greatly improve his chances.

Macc didn’t ignore the Center position. He signed Spencer Long to a 4 year, 28 million dollar contract. That’s not backup money. That’s “we have a new Center” money.

All good points GMF. I am a bit concerned about Long's health issues. Also, if Long stays healthy and Mac drafts say, Frank Ragnow, in round 3, Long moves over to RG next year and Carpenter can be cut. Swanson is certainly better than Wesley Johnson but not by that much.

I know everyone likes Ragnov but like yester years he is a type of player who is ranked as the 2nd best center someone will draft him in round 2, so he wont be there in round 3 even tho he is coming off an injury...

Ben Braden was on practice squad last season and was noted in taking snaps as center for scout team, they said he looked pretty good doing so... He could be the heir apparent, but expect the Jets to sign a rookie FA or two for the OL... The kid from USC on the list is a strong possibility but if not him someone will be brought in either this year or next...

There'a a possibility that we may trade up to #1 with either picks going to Cleveland or a player and picks.

Long's contract is in truth is a 1 year deal and he may not be our new Center. It all depends on the Draft, if we pick a Center in the 3rd or 4th Rds.

Well, with Spencer Long, Travis Swanson, and Jonathan Harrison signed I don’t see the Jets drafting a Center in this draft. Swanson was a decent player before a couple of concussions. A lot would have to go wrong injury-wise for the Jets to need a new Center.

Yep, we all said that before the Sheldon Richardson pick and the Leonard Williams pick. I Quote,"We don't need another Defensive Linemen".
