Ok this is for you College football fans....about the draft

How many second level (besides the first four) QB's are there in the draft that have a good chance to be good to great & of those how many may be around in round two, three.or four.

The reason is I like Barkley...lets say we take him with our first pick:global (37):& then take two not one of those second level qb's in later rounds? Yes I know we need many players but IMO from what I hear I am not warm & fuzzy on any of the first four. This would give us a great runner (80%) chance & three qb's (the Bridge man) that only one needs to be very good. The old numbers game.

As of today the Cards are a ground & pound.....why not both teams.......
Two things 1) we would need to really like two of the others & 2) Big mac would need big ones:global (31):

let me add just because we failed with our last few Qb,s does not mean that it would happen again....look after 50 years we are due to be lucky:global (31):

Ruldoph will likely go first round then there's a chance he falls to the second round . After that there's Faul and White followed by Lauletta and Benkert.
Ruldoph and Lauletta have the best chance of the group to be sucesssucc IMO
Faulk has great anticipation andaball placement but could be limited by physcial tools. Likely carreer back up or JAG.

If they are that good, they're not going to be around by the time the Jets pick in the third round.

Thats a pretty good assessment Tony. I can't believe Mac would do that but if he did and these guys were all gone we'd have to get through the season with with the QBs we have. Not saying that it couldn't work out. We don't yet know how Bridgewater is going to do. We could maybe add Stidham next year when he becomes available. I think Butterscotch is going to be disappointed don't you ?

Thank you.
i think butterscotch is going to be very disappointed. Let's get him a few cases of beer, he's going to need it.
I like Stidham , you know that, I also am interested in Lock. If he can improve his accuracy next season, I think he could be the first QB chosen. 44 passing TDs in the SEC is no joke and his completion % improved each season so far.

If our history of drafting qbs is no good, then what makes anyone think it will suddenly get better with one of these crapshoot qbs that no one can agree on. It might as well be a crapshoot later found qb. I would have stayed at 6 and taken best available player ala Parcells.

I have been doing some research into what makes a great football team. I read somewhere that an elite offensive line can make an average running back look great and can turn even a 6th round draft pick into the greatest American hero providing he eats right and gets his rest

So Now I'm thinking maybe we should try and improve our offensive line a little

That has been a need all along and hopefully will be addressed more in this years draft. If these receivers they have signed work out that will help the "O" line some. Crowell and Rawls could help our running game, although I must admit I'm not 100% sold on either of them but they were good signings based on potential. I'd like to see another guard and left tackle added to the line as well because I don't believe that we are as strong at those positions as we need to be. I think it's headed in the right direction so far. We still don't have a dominant edge rusher on defense either but adding Johnson to the backfield might help some with that. Basically I think you will see the improvement after training camp.

I am not saying that we should not draft one of the top 4 but I hope we get the one we want & I hope we get a good one lol with Barkley I think we have a better chance of getting a very good player......Yes we need a qb

but if it works that we like a lower one better why pick the one we don't want because it looks better to us.

I understand what you are saying here, at least I think I do. You are saying, correct me if I'm wrong, that the odds that Barkley will be a great player are way better than the odds of any of those top tier QBs being great. If so, then I agree with you 100%, but.....our need for a franchise QB is so great that we have to take that chance, sort of a catch 22 situation. Makes you wish we had two picks in a row doesn't it...........................?

Yes & Yes! LOL Look the Cards know that they need a qb but they can't get a top one. So back to the 60' with Johnson Ground & Pound & trust your D. Is it ideal no but it is the best they can do..........If we take a top four qb that we don't like...well that sucks.......... cards will draft a lower one maybe one from the list above......who really knows.

i'm not sold on either Crowell or Rawls. Crowell ran with a better offensive line then we have and he sucked. Why does Mac thinks he is going to be better with our crappy Offensive line.Yes we need an influx of talent across our OL. Beachems not bad, but IMO he would be better at RT. Everyone else stinks including Long, Winters and Carpenter.. Our OL will not get fixed this year. Hopeful that we can work on it next year and draft a D'Brick and Mangold to start us in the right direction.

AFA, that seems like a harsh assessment of both the o-line and Crowell. Crowell averaged over 4 yards per carry and is a good receiver out of the backfield. And I would give both Winters and Carpenter a better grade than “stinks”. Long just walked into the building and he’s already not good?

I’m not saying we’re the Faneca/Woody/Brick/Mangold Jets o-line, but it’s good enough to keep us afloat in 2018.

PS (I’ll be monitoring Shell and Long all year, too. Gentleman’s bet on that one).

BlindsideD'Brick, you and I have butted heads the last couple of months on the OL. I enjoy and respect your posts. I'll bet you a whole New York pizza (I love NY pizza) or a friendly handshake that Long and Shell fizzles out by game #8.

I think Kyle Lauletta and Mike White both have a chance to pull a Jimmy Garoppolo, but IMO both are going in RD 2 and we have no more second round picks. You can make the same argument for Mason Rudolph and I suppose, but he's going in RD 2 as well. IOW's without a 2nd RD Pick, we have no choice but to take a QB at #3 overall, otherwise we get caught holding the bag.

I didn't mention Lamar Jackson because I expect him to go in the first round. I think 5 QB's are going in the 1st RD: Darnold, Allen, Mayfield, Rosen and Jackson.

RD 2: Rudolph, Lauletta and White.
