Marty Mornhinweg, the New York Jets' offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, was named the new quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday.

Mornhinweg, 52, replaces Rick Dennison, who will follow Gary Kubiak to the Denver Broncos. Mornhinweg joins the Ravens one day after the team hired Marc Trestman as their offensive coordinator. He has a strong connection with Ravens coach John Harbaugh, spending five years (2003-07) as part of the same staff with the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Marty's got a great history and background with the offense we were running last year and what Marc is going to build on this year," coach John Harbaugh said. "He's a great quarterback teacher of fundamentals, footwork, reads and quarterback mechanics. I'm really excited about that. Marty's a great coach. He's going to be a great addition for us. I know he'll work really well with Marc and work really well with Joe [Flacco]."

While Mornhinweg has worked with Harbaugh and Ravens offensive line coach Juan Castillo, this will be his first time being on the same staff as Trestman.

"This is all going to be part of a formula to continue to play at a high level offensively and continue to get better," Trestman said.

Mornhinweg will be Flacco's sixth quarterbacks coach in what will be his eighth NFL season. Flacco is coming off his best season, setting career highs with 3,986 passing yards and 27 touchdowns.

I didn't think he'll find a job. Good for him.

It's pretty clear that Marty was forced on Rex. He's prob one of the few coaches that didn't follow him to Buf.

Marty Mornhinweg is such a loser.
He totally destroyed Steve Young’s career in San Francisco. Steve Young won the Superbowl despite the fact that Marty Mornhinweg was his QB coach. Steve won the Superbowl just to rub it in Marty’s fat ugly stupid face.
In 2006, Donovan McNabb made it to the divisional round of the playoffs, despite the fact that Marty Mornhinweg was his QB coach. Marty was an absolute dunce, but luckily Donovan and the rest of the Eagles team was able to overcome Marty’s ineptitude. The Eagles’ offense was ranked second in 2006 and again in 2010. This jerk made them the 5th highest scoring team in NFL history. What an inept, stupid jerk. Without Marty holding them back, they clearly would have been first, and would have won two Super Bowls. The guy is such an idiot.
I wish we had someone smart, like sg3, leading our offense. Then we’d be stacking the Lombardi Trophies on top of one another. We probably would have run out of room for them in the trophy case by now. We’d have to stack them up next to sg3’s double-wide in his trailer park next to the dead animal bones and the waste-high stack of old porno mags.

Could you please refrain from your barrage of personal attacks directed at me. This place is supposed to be for football discussion, not insults and derision

No problem.

You obviously have very thin skin, so I'll leave you alone.

It would be obnoxious of me to pick on weak minded simpleton with no football knowledge or social skills, and I won't do so.

Ravens only hired him because of the Kubiak departure. My guess is that they hire an up and coming O Coord and having MM around could help show them the ropes. MM knows offense, just was horrible at utilizing the skill-set of his players and he couldn't make many in game adjustments because of that.
Does that make any sense?

Oh yes, please, no arguing or derogatory comments towards others on this site please. Take that to the Patriots, Dolphins and Bills sites.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions here. And that is what they are, opinions only. We all may not agree with them but we should respect them. All of them.
Take the past four seasons out on me, not each other. We are all Jets For Life here. If you aren't, you don't belong.

He had an opportunity to mold Geno and couldn't do that so he has to go to a place that already has an established QB. Thankfully he is no longer calling the plays for the Jets

Do you really want us to take the last four seasons out on you?

I will if you really want me to. But, I'm going to give you another chance to think about that.

It doesn't really jive with your "no derogatory comments" theory, but - if really you want - I will take the last four seasons out on you.

Just say the word.
