I'm really surprised by this, especially Minter. He is a seriously legit LB who is only 27 and really hasn't had significant injury issues.

Minter knows TB's defense... Wanted him to join us last year, but now that we got him things are seriously looking up... As for Charles Johnson, not really sure if he has a chance but depending on the durability of this position (Q, Devin Smith) and others he has a shot to make the active 53...
I think you are right about Johnson. I think they are taking no risk by allowing him to compete for a roster spot. If Quincy and Devin come back strong his chances are slim. I think Minter could possibly help us though.
I’m familiar with Minter. Pretty good player. Seems like ILB is getting deep on this roster. OLB still seems a little thin though.

All these roster signing late here in free agency is most likely all about creating depth, competition and anticipating injury - BUT JUST WONDERING - if the Jets may also be preparing for the possibility of potentially having VERY few 2018 draft picks - provided they trade up one spot with the Giants to get the number 2 ranked QB,(for example - Allen goes #1 and Darnold who the Jets view a step above Rosen and Mayfield is available and Buffalo is all over the Giants for a trade) - anyway - the JETS may realize that they MAY have to surrender some combination of their remaining 2018 picks i.e. 3rd, 4th and/or 5th picks to move up one spot(yes - yes even overpay again, but the JETS have already shown that they are all in and willing to overpay).
Of course, flipping with the Giants means - the Giants 1) don't want a QB, and 2)want say Barkley OR alternatively think they then can they repackage the 3rd pick for another nice bounty to a team looking to take one of the remaining 2 QBs.

Minter was good few years ago did not follow him last year.........good pickup for us
they already traded away both 2nd round picks, along with next year's 2, so they need to fill roster holes from "lost" draft picks.
that is kind of the point I'm making - they are signing a lot of players LATE in this free agency period who provide depth similiar to later round draft picks, and with the exception of defensive end, the team is seemingly well stocked at virtually every position(which should not be confused with enough talent at every spot). Regardless, the chances of them trading up a spot with the Giants is certainly slim - but the Jets brass might feel the need to be ready should for example - the Browns - pass on Darnold and he is the clear number 1 QB on their(Jets) board.
