Do you have any idea who NON STOP this process is for these kids, flying all over the country, working out for team after team, being asked to learn all of their playbooks? Sure, gotta do it, put yourself thru hell, if you don't know you are a TOP 12 lock (no way in hell he gets past the Dolphins and Bills at 11 and 12), but I can't blame him for saying I can't learn another playbook when there's not a snowballs chance in hell I'm falling to 17. Honestly, in his position, I wouldn't either. At some point you have to say enough is enough. What, should he learn all 32 playbooks too?

DO you know any team can trade up to get him?? Oh wait, the Jets would be the only team dumb enough to do that.

Baker is not a good enough athlete to run that successfully in the NFL.
you are setting yourself up for some pretty serious blow back if we do draft the kid & he becomes the guy..

from what little i've seen of his running/shiftiness, he looks like a QB that can go for 200+ on the ground annually..

he definitely a better athlete then you give him credit for.. at least from where i sit..

Using that logic, all 32 teams can theoretically trade up for him, so is he obligated to learn every playbook in the NFL?

C'mon man, you gotta be realistic. He knows which teams are the hottest on his tail and by all accounts he's working his ass off to impress them.

12 visits with the Jets, bro ... TWELVE!!! ... is that the sign of someone who doesn't give a shit?

No, but he's concentrating on his most likely destinations. Its impossible to satisfy everyone. Its too much. He's only human.

BTW Deion Sanders told teams outside the TOP 5 to not even bother contacting him! LOL

kind of an incomplete quote my friend:

http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-je...or-sam-darnold

Do the Jets prefer Baker Mayfield or Josh Rosen? Based on most mock drafts, the choice at No. 3 could be between these two quarterbacks. It's a fascinating decision because they're so different as players and personalities. Mayfield is a fiery playmaker who can thrive outside the pocket; Rosen is a pure pocket passer with flawless mechanics. Mayfield is cocky and speaks his mind; Rosen can be outspoken on certain issues, but he's known to be reserved and cerebral.

"[If] it comes down to Baker and Josh Rosen, honestly, I've heard both," McShay said. "I've heard people who seem very convinced, in who they've talked to and what they know, that Baker Mayfield is the guy. I've talked to other people who seem just as convinced, in who they've talked to and the information they've got, that Josh Rosen would be the guy."

Todd McShay on ESPN this past Tuesday:

”From what I’m hearing around the league, I expect Baker Mayfield to be the pick at 3 to the NY Jets”.

He needs to make up his mind.

all signs point to Baker Mayfiled as the choice but who knows what this organization is thinking or if they are thinking anything at the current moment... Maybe they are on vacation waiting for the draft to start and when they are on the clock will decided which one they will take and hope he is the right one...

He is definitely a worse athlete than you and others think. He is playing against some of the worst defenses in the world. And most of the time vs boys not men.

No, but he needs to know the playbook for a specific interview. Keep making excuses for this guy. The Circus is coming back to town.

As far as blow back I can handle it because as far as the things I have said I am right. The things I have said about him have been facts. I haven't said he can't play football and had some great college stats. I have pointed out the facts. He has major character and immaturity issues. And I'm convinced the Jets will draft him and I'm convinced it will turn out like it has with every single QB since Namath.

it's much easier for these talking heads to say they were right when they take both sides... :global (47):

We are all fighting over the 4 main QB's (Darnold, Rosen, Allen, Mayfield) There is a possibility the Jets are looking at a 5th QB. Jackson is on the rise. He needs some work but he could be a sleeper pick. Don't say, "NO" ! We passed on Mariino for O'Brien.

if macc traded up to take lamar jackson, he should be fired on the spot.

Agree with this order Hobson. I think Rosen has All-Pro potential by the way. He's a talented kid, and smart. Darnold's mobility is what sets him apart. His arm is good, not great. Turnovers bother me. But he knows how to throw receivers open, which is most important. Rosen has the same abilities, except he's not as mobile. I think the personality issue is getting overblown with Rosen. My take on the kid is that he's very bright and as a result a little arrogant. That will change as he matures and gets humbled a bit, which I'm sure will happen the moment he steps on to an NFL field. And I'm fine with him expressing his opinions on issues. As far as Allen is concerned, unbelievable skills, just hard to know what kind of player he'll be. Much riskier pick. Mayfield, would not be my choice because of his size and off the field behaviors. Perhaps he has grown up, but I think that's a huge risk with him. The last thing the Jets need is having their QB with a history of off the field issues as the head of the franchise.

Assuming the Browns take Darnold and the Giants take Barkley or Chubb, the Jets should in my opinion take Rosen. I would simply follow the draft board if other scenarios arise...

I’m on board the Rosen bandwagon, too. My only question with him is, are the injuries the result of him being an injury-prone player, or did his o-line at UCLA get him killed? Outside of Kolton Miller, I don’t know anyone on that offensive line worth anything.

with all the usual caveats about ignoring pre-draft speculation by the talking heads, there seems to be a lot of talk about the browns going with josh allen. if the giants don't trade and don't take a QB, that gives the jets 3 options (perhaps 4 including trading down). i know the jets just brought darnold in for a visit at the last moment, perhaps based on this possibility that he will be available to them.

wondering where people stand on this, especially those who are on the mayfield bandwagon.

for me, i'd be fine with either darnold or rosen. they each seem to have their positives and negatives. i can't pretend to have enough info to pick between the two on an intelligent manner. gun to the head i'd probably take darnold given his better mobility and lack of injury history, although his turnovers are a glaring warning sign.

I like Darnold and Rosen. If Mayfield is picked by Macc, I'll be more then upset. I just see mayfield as a worthless pick by the Jets

As soon as the rumor of Cleveland liking Allen became public, the possibility of Darnold being there at 3 became real. I never even considered it because I assumed he’d be the #1 overall pick.

If Darnold is available at 3, I’m going to lose my mind. If we get him, that’s a giant steal. It would be a very fortunate situation for this team.
