OK. I know. I know.
We're all concerned with picking a franchise quarterback in the first round.
But that guy's gonna' need somebody to catch his passes.

Two mock drafts I've read say the Jets will pick Vyncint Smith, a wide receiver from Limestone College, in the seventh round.
Just letting you know that Limestone College is in Gafney, SC.

Any bets they will be correct?
Anybody know anything about this guy?

Is Limestone College this year's Slippery Rock?
Inquiring minds want to know.

I gotta' get a life.

Limestone is a DII school. I don't follow DII as much as I do DIII, since I played DIII, but I believe Limestone played some pretty decent teams. I think they have West Alabama and Gardner Webb on their schedule. Not certain, but I think those are the kind of schools they play.

Vyncint Smith home town Columbia, SC is 6'3" 195 wide out that has a combination of size, speed, and explosiveness to make a team, but lacking in the fundamentals to contribute early on. Smith should be able to improve his route-work quickly, but improving ball skills and instincts will be a more difficult challenge for whoever takes him on the third day of the draft. Smith's traits could lead him to a role of field-stretcher with underneath routes to complement that role. He's a better athlete than receiver at this point and could take a couple of years to develop.

Sounds like all the makings of a guy who can make the team on specials, and then develop his WR-craft from there.

sounds like Charone Peake esq type of receiver that has the upside of a Robby Anderson on the field...

but yes, he would have to go through special teams to eventually earn or get lucky for a shot on offense...

Sack, you never fail to amaze. A PhD and a DIII football player? Impressive.

Please, it wasn't that impressive. I was a fairly mediocre offensive lineman, too slow to be my size, too small to be my speed. My senior year playing weight was all of 240, which is why I never got a sniff of the higher levels.

Gee, I dunno. Kind of sounds like "when Einstein was a wide receiver he really wasn't very good. at it." Still pretty impressive.
