It seems highly unlikely to me that Mac would spend that kind of cash on a RB. Without a 2nd round pick, free agency becomes that much more critical to fill the many needs of this team. The likeliest scenario is he signs a major upgrade at LT and OLB. Dallas and Detroit currently have $50mm and $39mm of cap space in 2019 respectively. Signing Lawrence or Anseh would cost them upwards of $20mm and that may shake one or both of them loose. Dante Fowler is very likely to be available and provided the Jets are satisfied with their due diligence on him, he could be the guy they go after. It's also likely that Mac will need to sign Carpenters replacement. And a #1 receiver. And another cornerback. Remember, the $90mm in cap space only accounts for Leo Williams, Mike Pennel and the rookie DL. So unless Fatukasi and Sheppard contribute another DL will need to be signed.

RBs, after their rookie contracts are essentially disposable in the league, which just seems fundamentally wrong to me..
Because he won't be available until AFTER this season I can't bring myself to the point that I would be considering that possibility until then. I would like to see how well he played this season due to the fact that he is, as McJet so aptly put it, ON THE BACK NINE of his career. Just think about what happened with Revis, undeniably the best CB in the league at his prime, and how he played his last season as a Jet. I'll wait awhile before I start thinking about the free agents that might be available after the season.

Exactly and IMO it starts with a superman left tackle. Brady has so much time to find the open receiver that I could do it.
Yes. It will be interesting to see this year if Nate Solder can be maybe the first other than Welker to leave the cheetahs and still be great. Also interesting to see how fast Dante scarnechia the cheetahs offensive line guru can turn someone into the next best left tackle. Hopefully he can't but I won't be getting against him
