Raiders fielding offers for Khalil Mack?

all i can say is look at Andrew Luck and realize the Jets need to draft OL with the 2019 1st rounder. I know it kills the chance to draft a premium pass rusher, but we need Sam safe first and foremost.

I’ve seen a few early 2019 mocks, and there will plenty of first round talent at the Tackle position.

Mehta now reporting that the Jets have contacted the Raiders about Mack. First Fowler, now Mack. It’s pretty clear that the team has recognized that Josh Martin and Lorenzo Mauldin are not the answer at the Edge.

I really hope we land one of these beasts. Khalil Mack would be insane. I’d be perfectly fine with trading Bridgewater and our 2019 1st rounder for Mack. He’s a gamechanging force on defense.

I didn't want to move Teddy. But I would go Teddy + a one and I'd even through in a later rounder to get this done.
If Mac pulls that off I'd give him an extension tomorrow .
Mack gives us a superstar on defense . I'd love it

I can't see the Raiders having any interest in Teddy when they already have Derek Carr, one of the best young QB's in the league.

Thats why although Mack is better and safer than Fowler, I would rather acquire Fowler cause I think we can get him in a straight swap for Teddy now that Teddy has proven to be healthy again. I don't think they believe Bortles is the answer. But Mack would cost us our 2019 1st RD Pick for sure, and we don't have a 2 either, and we'd probably have to give them our 1 in 2020 as well, no less than our 2, so a Mack deal really limits our chances of drafting a franchise LT anytime soon, whereas a Fowler trade gives us the best edge rusher we've had since John Abraham, plus we get to keep our 2019 1st RD Pick to draft a LT prospect. Thats why Mack is better, clearly, but I think Fowler for Teddy makes more sense for both sides.

Mack is a 3 down player, Fowler strictly a situational pass rusher. If Mac can get a second round pick for Teddy, we can draft a better pass rusher than Fowler next season. Mac would need to have the first pick and still a ton of luch to find a player that comes close to Mack.

I'll take a 2nd RD Pick as well.

I like Fowler more than you, but I'll take either one, Fowler or recoup that 2019 2nd RD Pick we traded away for Sam Darnold.

Fowler is only a one year rental. The draft pick gives you 4 years for the same money.
The Jets in 2019 have holes at every position on the roster. Unfortunately many of Macs picks are not paning out as hoped.
Stewart and Hansen may not make the roster this year. We have so many needs next season.
Just off the top of my head, back up QB, LB, CB, RB, WRs, TE, LG , O line starters and Depth. We enter the off season with a ton of cap space but it's going to go very fast.
Fowler is unlikely to want to negotiate a deal before trade and no way Teddy is going to agree to an extension to be a back up.
It's the same as the Teddy Darnold argument. Teddy may get you a win or two more but at what cost? Fowler doest make this team a super bowl contender but could be the difference between getting a stud pass rusher long term and a long term O line stud vs a later first and no second round pick.
I don't see the logic.

Carr has been banged up a little bit, and had a down year last season. He’s still the guy they’re banking on, but the Raiders would be much better with Bridgewater as the #2 than Connor Cook. But you’re right, they may not be interested. I was using Bridgewater as a throw in with the 1st round pick in that deal.

I have some concerns with Fowler. He’s had some injuries, including the one that shut him down for his rookie season, and he also just got suspended for a game for his conduct at practice. But he’s still young and racked up 10 total sacks last year (2 in playoffs) and would fill a major need on this defense.

Of course you don't make the trade for either player unless you are given permission to sign them to an extension in advance of any trades. I thought that was implicitly understood, so I didn't think it was necessary to make a point of it, but to be clear, any trade for Fowler or Mack would be contingent on signing them to contract extensions prior to finalizing the deal.

With Mack, that's a given, Bridgewater doesn't really factor in there. It's going to be at least our first , third and 4th or 2 first to get him.
Can we afford the capital with the needs on this roster is the Question.
Now the proposal for Fowler was him for Teddy. The Jags in all reality can't afford to Pay Teddy to start, or to extend him so they would never make the trade for a one year rental back up QB that would cost them a starting player next season if he has to play and allow the Jets to negotiate a contract extension. Furthermore, we know how their GM operates. Players for draft picks , and with Jacksonville so far over the Cap, picks are what they desperately need to replace the players they are going to have to release.

FA will be an option, too. Macc will have a boatload to spend. Between that and our 1st round pick, we’re going to shore up some holes.

Correct. Unfortunately we can't do it all in the draft, we're going to need to spend some money too

I would not trade next year's first and our extra 3rd round pick for Mack. To me, we still would have many holes to fill. Granted, edge rusher is our greatest need (along with a new offensive line), but next year's draft is loaded with great defensive linemen and edge rushers. I think that between our cap space and the draft we can totally fill in the missing pieces. As good as Mack is, he is only one piece and would eliminate our draft capital, as well as a significant chunk of our cap space.

NFL Network report says Raiders asking price would be two 1st rounders. But they aren’t “motivated” to trade him yet.

They’ll be hard pressed to find anyone to give up more than a one for him.

I could see a #1 and maybe a second or third thrown in. Mack might be the best pass rusher in the NFL. His stats are off the charts, he’s solid against the run too, and he’s 27 with no off the field problems dating back to his college days.

But two 1st round picks is a big asking price. That would hurt.

Now that Donald is signed, either Mack signs quickly with the Raiders or this story really has legs. I have wondered if he was waiting for Donald to set the market, and for him to come in just above that deal. So it should be pretty easy, especially with him wanting to play. If he is not extended by the Raiders quickly, then a trade seems more and more likely.
