Dante Fowler on the trade block too?

Apparently they are down on Fowler, have no intentions of re-signing him after this year, and have other options they want to extend and keep.

However Fowler has an injured shoulder (don’t know the degree?) and has been suspended for the first game.

That said, I’m sure he can be had for a lot cheaper than Khalil Mack. Since they are not re-signing him after this year anyway and he’s a backup on their depth chart, then add in the injuries and now a suspension, and BELOW might be enough to get it done, and he’s still only 24

I was thinking, if the Jags are still unsure about Bortles, perhaps we can send them Bridgewater as insurance and maybe a 5th RD Pick?

I should add, IMO this is another player who was drafted into the wrong scheme.

I always believed, as did most draft gurus, that his best fit was at RUSH OLB in the 3-4, but he was drafted as a smallish 4-3 DE

If he stays healthy, I think the Jets offer him an opportunity to play the position where his size and skills are best suited.

Not for Teddy unless we get more... QBs are a commodity that every week TB is healthy and moving his value rises

I lowered it to a 5th, but if Teddy shines in the preseason a pick might not even be necessary.

Its conceivable we can do a straight swap of Teddy for Fowler.

Depends on how they feel about Bortles, but if they don't believe he's THE GUY, a pick might not even be necessary.

The most underrated acquisition of the offseason. Signing Teddy B. He’s going to get the Jets something of value in the trade market if Darnold continues to shine.

Fowler has become an afterthought in a great JAX defense. Their front seven is ridiculous. And the secondary isn’t bad either. I’d prefer Mack if the Jets were exploring sure-thing solutions to the pass rush. But if Fowler could be had for less compensation, Macc would have to consider it. It’s the ONE thing missing on our defense. You put an Edge guy on this D, and the Jets are a top 10 defense in the league.

Teddy seems to make sense. I'm not a Jacksonville fan. Has he shown much in the pros, as far as rushing the passer?

Fowler would be nice for a conditional pick, say 6th that could become a 5th. Bridgewater could potentially bring a second plus.
Teddy and a pick is too much for Fowler

Potentially being the key word. Bridgewater has to show he can withstand the full contact of a real game before anyone gives the Jets anything of significant value.

Completely agree about potentially being key.
I'm less concerned with contact then the actual ability to move. It's veev rare to see an ACL,mcl tear occour from contact. It's almost always a non contact injury or as in Teddy's case, (Tannerhill is another example) trying to play through an ACL injury.

After tonite, just the fact that Bridgewater proved he is healthy and ready to ball, there's no chance in hell the Jaguars are getting Teddy plus a pick.

Tony was right, that is NOT HAPPENING, not after tonite.

Now if the Jags want Teddy, and they should, IMO he's better than Bortles if healthy, they should be happy if we accept a straight swap for Fowler.

If they want us to throw in a pick, even a 7, they need to quit dreaming.

This young man can play, nobody doubts that, they only doubted if he could bounce back from that severe knee injury?

From what I saw tonite, he can and he has, and we're talking about a former 1st RD Pick and proven winner in this league.

Considering Fowler's own problems with injuries and his one game suspension, and the value of starting QB's in this league, and the fact that Bridgewater is still young and better than their current starter, they should be thrilled if we swap Teddy for Fowler.

Fowler’s injuries make the swap more even. I thought Teddy looked great last night. He picked up right where he left off before the injury. A quality NFL starting QB. I think teams might be monitoring this for another week or so before they feel safe making any deal with the Jets. If Bridgewater plays next week anywhere near what he did last night, he’ll be a good trade piece for the Jets if they’re trying to find a trade partner for a team willing to move a pass rusher.

If they can't get an impact edge rusher or potentially impact guy, I think they'll take a 2nd RD Pick in 2019 to replace the 2 they traded for Darnold.

They're not gonna take just some mediocre pass rusher. They already have those. They need an impact edge rusher, otherwise recoup that 2

I could see a team like Tampa Bay come calling on Bridgewater with the Jameis Winston suspension. If they offered a 2nd rounder, that’d be something the Jets would have to look at it. That’s fair compensation for a starting QB.

Ideally, you find someone willing to part with a pass rusher who’s in a crowded front seven situation, or someone the other team doesn’t want to pay next year (Fowler and Mack respectively). But regardless, we’ve got to get something of real value for Bridgewater. I don’t think he’ll be on the roster when we play Detroit.

Jags seem like the obvious match. They have a defense that already has a great pass rush without the ill-fitting Fowler, but a question with Bortles at QB. To me, a deal makes a ton of sense.

I don't give any more than a 5th rounder for Fowler. Jags just suspended him and he blew out his knee in his rookie season and he seems like a douche. Jags don't want him so low ball them. Teddy is worth a 2nd rounder and maybe a 1st if he plays like he did the other night. I really feel like Tampa knows they made a mistake with Winston. They would give up the most for Teddy.

FWIW, Jason La Canfora believes the Jets might move McCown. He also wrote (Cbssportline.com) that he believes the Jets have the best QB situation in the NFL in terms of depth.

Somebody’s getting moved, regardless.

McCown? Really?

That would be an interesting move. Not sure I like it, but it would be interesting.

The reasoning went something like this: Teddy is a starting QB, and all indications are that his knee is fine. So you keep him with Darnold and trade a respected (albeit, well traveled) veteran QB who’s coming off a pretty good year statistically. He cited the Rams as a good option for McCown to replace Mannion. The Rams would have a more stable QB situation, the Jets would be set with Darnold and Bridgewater, and the Jets get a draft pick from the Rams.

It’s not that crazy when you think about it. If Darnold hits a rookie wall, Teddy keeps the season alive.

Offer a conditional 5th round pick for Fowler and leave it at that. He hasn't shown anything yet. even if he was a high draft pick. So was Gholston, Dee Miliner, Dewayne Robertson etc,etc.......
