So excited. This is the only QB the Jets have ever drafted in my lifetime that I wanted before we drafted them.

Seemed appropriate to just post this again:

None of us will ever really know the true ins and outs of this deal but I can say that I am a bit disappointed here. I know TB would most likely be traded but I was hoping we would get a second rounder at least. I was also hoping TB would go someplace where he could start immediately or by weeks 3-4 at least. At New Orleans, he won't see the field unless Breez gets hurt and Breez is like Brady where he wants to play for 3-4 more years. If this holds up, when will Bridgewater ever see the field??? Anyway, this tells me a lot about our team and their thought process:

1. Bowles job must be pretty secured and this may not be a win now situations. Seems to me they are giving him another 2-4 years to develop this team and QB and see what he can do with this.

2. They must have supreme confidence in Darnold because as good as he played and picked up on what he has to so far, Bridgewater clearly outplayed him. Yes Darnold kept it close but you can see Bridgewater's play was on another level to this point.

3. They must believe that this either won't be a playoff team with either of the 3 QBs playing or they feel Darnold can actually help them to be a playoff contender this year. Just like Bridgewater could have.

4. They wanted no chance of a QB controversy with Bridgewater sitting behind Darnold. Darnold will certainly have his ups and downs this year and having Bridgewater sitting behind him may stir up those questions, if Darnold's downs start to get sorta significant. I doubt seriously his downs will get that bad but who knows!!!

5. To trade away a 25 year old possible franchise QB for a 21 year old must mean that we have the guy!!!

Lastly and I'll say it again, thank you Kirk Cousins for passing up on the Jets $90 million dollar offer, which was the highest of any team (other than the Vikings if I'm correct.) You have set us free!!!

A 3rd was the best I figured we would get barring injury to a starter some where and a team desperate for the services of Teddy B.... and in 3-4 years Teddy will still only be 28-29 with the possibility of anywhere from 4-6 years of good football

I guess, don't think TB will be happy about riding the bench for 3-4 years! I'm sure he'll be leaving NO at the end of the season, unless Breez retires.

St. Patricks’s day 2018.

That was the day it began. I checked this board and saw a new post that said “Jets trade with Indy to move up to 3”.

And then draft night. “With the 2nd pick in the 2018 NFL the NY Giants select....Saquon Barkley”.

It really happened. Darnold fell into Maccagnan’s lap.

Maccagnan has had some issues. The rebuild began one year too late, in part thanks to the fool's gold of 10-6. He hasn't done enough to address the OL.

But some of the moves have been great. Three times, he got arguably one of the best 1-3 players in the draft, and never with a #1 overall pick. Whether it's luck or reading other teams well, he has managed to land premier talent in the draft. If a guy falls to you once (Leonard Williams), fine, it happens. Second time (Jamal Adams), OK, maybe there's more to it. When it happens a third time (Sam Darnold), something can be said beyond luck.

I had noticed that gmf has been a little quiet lately but a post with nothing in it? What's he trying to say here?

I am excited for Darnold......Yes I am.

???????As I said no matter what any of us think or say....we are not there. So I hope this guy does not need bench time & he lights it up. Am I worried......Yes but if the jets coaches feel he is ready he must be. Do I think the Cards are making the right move with Rosen on the bench...yes i do but different QB & different team...plus again I am not there. Would I have started Bridgewater Yes I would but now we are down to one. So the D man is the man Go jets

maccagnan playing his fellow GMs like a fiddle, annually at the top of the draft is a bridge too far for me..

& even if you're on to something, & you might be, i'd give back williams & adams in a nanosecond to only to have had darnold drop to us..

I don't necessarily think he played them like a fiddle.

But I also don't think anyone can keep chalking it up to dumb luck over and over again. Once, sure. Twice? Maybe...maybe. Three time? Sorry, no.

hey, i acknowledged you may be on to something but since we're not likely to change each others position on maccagnan prowess at the top of the draft, i vote for we don't..

that said, would you give back both williams & adams for darnold??

Darnold is the key. And though I think Williams can be dominant, he has only so far been good, not the great player he can be. Adams so far has shown promise of being dominant, but it's just promise.

I'm totally with you on all accounts.
