Someone will have to be cut for this addition to the active roster...

Attaochu, Jenkins, Lee and Williamson could evolve into a dangerous quartet... Just have to wonder how long it will take for Jeremiah Attaochu to get up to speed, but with Kevin Greene coaching him this kid can be a scary addition...

Didn’t live up to his draft status as a 2nd round pick. I read a Chargers fan’s comments on a site who said he’s more run defender than pass rusher. That’s why he was available.

We’ll see. The OLB spot needs as many reinforcements as possible.

Watched Mayock talk about him during the draft. Says he needs to move around and play in space. Not as good with hand in the dirt.

Then he'll work better in a scheme like this, where he won't be a 4-3 rush end.

well they aren't opposed to making a trade but JA is an upgrade for ER we have been seeking...

if we sign Orchard he would be what Kony Ealy was for us a situational pass rusher for 3rd down and long, because of his foot quickness allows him to get off the snap fast...

I can see this:

using Attaochu on either side... pure athleticism to rush the passer while capable at setting the edge...
Jordan Jenkins has shown that can play DE... He is our premiere run defender...
on 3rd & Long bring in Orchard to rush the passer...
Josh Martin is a decent better than average coverage guy that has a twitch to rush the passer...
Final not recognize is JJ Wilcox to come up and be edge rusher on the outside or run defender at middle linebacker...

If Attaochu can stay healthy and live up to his potential, which he hasn't in recent seasons which is why he is available, he would definately be a boost to our defense.

I think the key to Attaochu having a productive season is for him to stay healthy. He had a pretty good 2015 season according to the Star Ledger "Attaochu is entering his fifth year in the league. The 25-year-old spent his first four seasons with the Chargers, then signed with the 49ers this offseason, but was cut over the weekend. He's battled health issues over the past two seasons, which limited him to just 12 games and one start during that time frame. But when he was healthy back in 2015, he was productive; he tallied six sacks in 15 games, 12 of which he started."

That was in 2015 as you stated, his best year, he's only racked up 2 since then. I do believe he has the potential to be that good again. I hope he makes a comeback and maybe he will in our system. It sure would be nice. I'm willing to give him the chance for sure.

At this point, this is as good as it’s going to get. Everyone’s speculating about Fowler, but we have no idea whether JAX even wants to move him, or how much they would be asking for in return.

This is “second chance season”. Guys who didn’t work out somewhere else, looking for a fresh start.
