Still no respect

How the heck are we underdogs in our home opener verses an average Miami team we're supposed to beat at home.

Even after we smoked the Lions in our MNF opener on the road, they still make us an underdog in our home opener versus Miami?

I know its only 1 Point, I saw 1.5 too, and one Pick'em, but how are we not at least a FG favorite in this game?

We still get no respect. Gonna have to earn it by smoking Miami too.

It’s all good! The Jets can use it as fuel to beat the Dolphins down in the ground. One game at a time. Don’t get to high with the highs or low with the lows. They keep playing like they did yesterday and they will surprise a lot of people.

We don’t need anyones respect. The last people to hop on board are these national analysts. It’s nearly impossible for them to follow all 32 teams closely so they go with the existing narrative until it is proven wrong.

Everyone on this board knows more about the Jets than any “expert”.

Remember SI's pre-SB III prediction?
Colts 66 Jets 0. (You can look it up. The author was Tex Maule)
So much for "experts".

Doesn't matter. We do better when we're underdogs. We are fans of underdogs. Jet's have the history of being underdogs. I agree with butterscotch "Respect comes with time" & also with Elias (won't link?) " We don’t need anyones respect. " We don't. Patriots have "respect" (not here or anyone that really knows the team) - & if they have "respect", we don't want nor need it.

Let them.

I'm not sure what the Dolphins did to earn more respect than the Jets, but let this be bulletin board fodder.

They changed it overnight, literally overnight, from the Jets +1 to the Jets -3, a four point swing in a matter of hours.

You rarely see an NFL line move that much that quickly unless a QB is injured or something extraordinary like that.

What this tells me is the money came flying in on the Jets, hot and heavy, the moment the lines opened late last nite and early this morning.

I am too for the most part. I'll admit , I got a bit bent out of shape when Shaun O'Harra , a former Giant lineman , called the Jets Brass out for not focusing on the OL in pre-season , this after his beloved Giants had that as a primary focus in FA with Solder , and the draft with Hernandez. He showed the same clips over and over , with Kalil Mack making a banged up line look shamefully inept. Well , with a new center , and a healthy line , I'll take our line over Shaun's beloved Jints' line 8 days a week. Lets see how Ereck Flowers handles Kalil Mack in week 13. Just sayin.

Good point. The Giants struggled on that o-line. Flowers has been given a lot of leash. Solder got whipped, too. Meanwhile, the Jets line played well overall. That unit everyone was so worried about.

To add a bit to my previous post , I have to say that of particular note has been the play of Brandon Shell. Someone in the Jet scouting department must have seen something in this big fat kid on the Gamecocks. A 5th round draft pick , projected to be no more than a backup, at best , Now, this kid looks chiselled , and must spend serious time in the weight room. He just seems to be getting better all the time. He had a key block for Darnold's big gain for a first down pick up , and he sprung Crowell for his touchdown run. Oh and ( not to be overlooked ) only one penalty for the o-line the entire game.

Shell did play well. I’ve been under the impression that the Jets viewed him as a developmental player, expecting him to take a few years to work on his game before ultimately becoming a starter in the best case scenario. So far so good. Let’s see how he does next week.
