i was on the fence on signing him, mostly concerned about the money. but this sounds like a very reasonable deal for one of the few elite RBs in the game (easily top 5) and a player very much in his prime.

ton of credit to macc for standing his ground with his offer. hopefully bell will buy in to the team and allow sam to truly flourish. like all big money FAs, there's always a bust factor. but it's a very good risk for macc to take, on an elite, young, dual threat RB

The way I see it, the Jets have 4-years to make this contract worth it and get all they can out of Bell before he starts to decline. He is a premiere and all world player but he is 27-years old and at the tail end of his PRIME. I figure by the time this contract is up, Bell will start to give a lot less then he did his first ten years in the league, so they must get the most out of him and Darnold together. Build the oline (this year) and draft a top flight WR (someway-somehow) and they can win a SB by the time this 4-year contract is up. Bell can average (with no serious injuries of course) 250-280 carries for 1100-1500 yards, 60-80 receptions for 600-1000 yards and 10-20 TDs combined over this four year contract. After that, unless Bell can defeat the odds, those type of stats will decline after he turns 31 and it will be time to slowly start looking for Bell's replacement. So the Jets have to make this happen over the next 4 years, it's there best chance to win a SB with Bell in his prime.

Find his replacement this year or next. We need depth now. We have so little talent on this team.

The combination of Crowell (I think he is still on the team) and McGuire will be a nice one-two punch to take 50-70 touches off Bell work load a year. Plus give them both a decent amount of touches to produce as second and third tier backs. It's after the four-year contract is up that they will need to start looking for a premiere back to take Bell's place.

While I wanted a Good RB for a long time for our Jets ,Im not thrilled about Bell. Reason is he hasnt player for over a year and Im not sure his heart is into playing. Man if Jets had gotten Bell that played 2 years ago I would be crazy happy!!! So which Bell are we getting guys? We getting that incredible RB of 2 years ago that runs over -by-and stiff arms through Players that catches passes? Or...are we getting a half azzed effort that I got paid attitude and injury prone? If we got the guy from 2 years ago that looked like the next Curtis Martin on JETS and add Bossa when 49ers trade back to QB team or Allen at 3rd, Jets will be in playoffs. It all is "IF" at this point. I hope its not another CB Johnson signing with another slap to the face of GM, Jets Org. and Jets fans. Please let Bell be refreshed and mean smart RB/WR

I am scared you may be right - but hoping for anything but

I really wish Mac would fix it through the draft, but he seems like he will try to improve it with old guys which isn't a bad thing and it can work. An old OL is fine as long as their replacements are being drafted over the next two years.

A veteran at C could be a good thing for Sam. The C/QB relationship is an important one, and a veteran could help immensely. But I'd like to see some of the other positions solidified, then take a turn toward getting younger.

Is Sullivan at C the only real option?? I'm sure he helped Goff. I just think Mac thinks Harrison is good enough.
