I like it. Last year we paid 10M for a washed up veteran backup who was 37 or older?
Unlike Davis Webb, Siemian has started plenty of games in this league and was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2017, and he's still only 27
Let's face it, the Giants knew they would need a new QB and soon, so they never would have cut Webb if he didn't stink.
Lastly, Siemian is a BACKUP, not a STARTER, so let's judge him by backup standards and I think this was a good move.

Darnold grew up last season. He doesn’t need big brother anymore. Siemian > McCown. Getting better at QB2 is a good thing.

If Sam wants McCown around then hire him as a QB Coach or Assistant QB Coach, but he's shot as a player.
We all saw it last year ... it's over ... he can't play anymore ... if Sam wants him around as a sounding board, hire him as a coach.
This was a good signing and I don't think McCown really wanted to play anyway. He might entertain a coaching position down the road but he was upfront with the Jets about his future so they didn't have to wait on his decision like they did with you know who. I also agree that a 2 or 3 year contract sounds better but since I'm not privy to whats going through the heads of our front office I won't judge them too harshly for the short contract.
27 year old decent QB for minimum money that has proven himself to be able to win a few games for you if needed. Can't be mad at this as it was time for McCown to go. I do wish him well! Darnold is our guy and as long as he can stay healthy we are good there but having a somewhat proven vet QB who isn't old as shit is a plus.
