Ty Montgomery, 26, was with the Packers until he ran a kickoff out of the end zone and fumbled, against the coaching staff's wishes. I assume this was discussed before a deal was offered. He's also a converted WR, so he's another guy who is good catching the ball out of the backfield.

Botched play aside, I like that we’re adding KR’s.

It’s my biggest criticism of Macc’s FA plan. Letting Andre Roberts go. And then he signed with the Bills. Ugh.

You always want to carry three RB's who can play, because they get banged up so much.

Now we have that third guy, he's only 26, and we didn't have to use one of the limited amount of draft picks we have to get him.

Added to the roster behind Bell, this is a decent move. If we have to rely on Ty then we are in trouble.

I like it, I guess! I was hoping that they would draft a 215 plus pound RB in the fourth or fifth round that could be our second guy but this will work, I guess. We now have three RBs that are no older then 27 and very capable of handing their business, especially Bell. If Bell can stay healthy the entire year, this can turn to be a very nice RB core. I’m wondering now is Montgomery going to stay with the number 88 or will he actually wear a RB number?

It's a decent signing. I'm higher on McGuire than Montgomery as a "true" RB, but Montgomery is a versatile player, who can return kicks, and is a good receiver. I would say that Montgomery is the type of player the Patriots would try to sign - under the radar, versatile player on offense. Maybe we blocked them from grabbing him and if so, great.

not a bad move. not sure montgomery is anything special as a RB and his return numbers are pretty pedestrian. but it's still a decent depth move given his versatility.

i still like mcguire so hopefully he gets a chance to compete for the snaps behind bell. maybe i'm biased since mcguire basically bailed out my fantasy team after kareem hunt got booted (and spencer ware got hurt) and i was scrambling for a RB. his 3 TDs in weeks 15/16 basically were the difference makers for me winning my league

I don't think so, unless they plan on only carrying 3 RBs. Powell isn't returning, so Cannon would be the fourth guy unless they draft someone. Possibility also!

Montgomery is versatile, and that seems to be a trait Macc likes. He can run it, catch it, and return it. Good depth signing behind Bell if they really don’t want to overuse LeVeon.

I think McGuire looked really good when given the opportunity. He’s gotta be part of the plan as well. Cannon is the guy who’ll probably get less touches. Love his speed, but he needs to protect the ball better.

It's a good depth signing and He didn't fumble as many times as people seem to think. In that respect he's about the same as Cannon. Cannon has the speed but Montgomery is deemed more versatile. I agree with Brick about McGuire looking good and feel like he might fit in as one of the top 3 RBs.

I'm really interested to see how and if Cannon will be used. This move might hinder that, but Cannon's speed and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield will be something that Gase will exploit.
