Fant a little surprising. But he’s one of the top TE’s. Could be an option after a trade down.

Not a position of need, but Herndon and Fant would be unstoppable.
Yeah, I don't see this pick. There are too many other positions of need. Yes getting Hockenson or Fant would be nice, but we've been down this road before - remember the Kyle Brady over Warren Sapp pick? Kyle Brady was actually a pretty good TE in the league. Jet fans were hypercritical of him, but he was solid. But the Jets can't make this mistake again. Go O-Line, D-Line, OLB in the first round. That's the strength of this draft.
Hosting Fant is probably just standard procedure. They know this kid won't make it passed the first round and they also know their not drafting him in the first round. So this is TOTALLY UNNESSECARY but standard procedure I'm guessing. Now Allen is another story. We need Allen BAD, no as mush as we need a oline men but close enough. Beside oline help, edge rusher would be next in line, then comes WR and CB. IMO anyway!
I don’t believe the Jets are trying to fool anyone with misdirection regarding Fant. They obviously like him a lot to be hosting him for a visit. The Jets are smart to prepare themselves for any possibility during the draft. If they trade out, you don’t know where they could end up. Hypothetically, if they have the 22nd overall pick after a trade, what if no quality pass rushers or o-linemen are there? But Fant is there and his visit went well?
You have to be ready for any scenario.
Very good point and I wouldn't blame them for drafting Fant, I can't remember his name but our back up TE is ok at best but with WRs like Harry and some of the other top five guys there, wouldn't we be better off going that way???
