Well incomplete is the only real answer. However B- would be a fair grade as well. If Mac would have picked Lamont G. center from Georgia at #157 I would have said A- .
Lets hope that Polite is a goddamm monster on the field.

Polite is a very good player. His downside was his conditioning and character and I believe that the Jets can turn that around.

Q was the obvious pick. You don’t pass on a player of that caliber. He was the best player in the draft. After watching his tape, I was further convinced. He’s a wrecking ball. Polite is a beast coming off the edge and a great compliment to Q. Our pass rush was a concern, and now it’s probably fixed.

After that, I’m intrigued by Wesco. He’s a great blocker who’ll set some lanes for LeVeon Bell. And he made some nice catch and runs at WV. The NFLN crew praised this pick.

The USC Tackle needs to clean up some stuff, but he has sound pass blocking technique that doesn’t have to be tweaked too much. Hopefully he’ll be in the mix for 2020.

I gave this draft an A because of the first two picks. I believe they stuck to their board and got who they wanted.

I can understand that. I went with a "B" because of the last 2 picks.

I gave it a C because Mac's track record is trash in the later rounds. Polite seems like a nice fit especially with Q. First two picks get an A. Last two picks a D/F. Middle two a C/D.

I agree that incomplete is the only possible grade for now, but there is some real potential upside here.
  • Polite could be the long-awaited Edge Rusher we've needed.
  • Edoga is considered pretty safe to be decent at worst, with the potential to be more.
  • Wesco was considered by both Kiper and McShay to be the best blocking TE in the draft, described as a ferocious blocker, which could be important for the running game - and he has potential as a pass-catcher as well, according to some reports that I read.
  • Cashman was on a couple of "sleeper" lists I perused, there are a lot of draftniks who love him, and he does make plays. Maybe similar to Luvu in terms of just always in the right position to be making plays. And I think he tested better at the combine than expected - a 4.5 40! Former walk-on to team captain and leading tackler, you know he's got the heart.
  • The main question with Austin is health, the consensus seems to be that when he plays, he's got good size and skill. Health (knees) is a big question with him, though.
You can't ever expect all of the above to pan out, but there are some real possibilities there.

More on Cashman:

The former Gophers linebacker’s stock appeared set to rise after he posted some of the best marks within his position group during testing Sunday in Indianapolis.

Cashman, a former U walk-on from Eden Prairie, posted five marks within the top seven players at his position, per nfl.com:

— Fourth in 40-yard dash: 4.50 seconds
— Fourth in 20-yard short shuttle: 4.12 seconds
— Tied for third in broad jump: 10 feet, four inches
— Tied for fifth in vertical jump: 37.5 inches
— Seventh in three-cone drill: 6.95 seconds

One thing that disappoints me, not just this class but have we ever developed a CB since Revis?? I mean it’s crazy.

This would have been an A- if they had taken a starting center - but they got outmaneuvered by a couple of teams for players they wanted. And I think they got too cute trading back at times. Right now, incomplete is the only real grade, but if I had to give an overall grade and by rounds, I would do it this way:

Round 1 - A+ Williams was the obvious pick and if he stays healthy, he can be a star in the league. This d-line will be great, but our o-line is still a serious concern.
Rounds 2-3 - B for now, could be an A if Polite becomes the edge rusher we need and isn't a problem in the locker room or off the field.

Rounds 4-5 - D. Not sure what they were doing taking a blocking TE and OT that has had off the field issues (we just don't need more of these guys). The OT from USC is talented, but again, might have off the field problems. Mac takes these guys routinely and they don't pan out. It's frustrating. The TE - looks like he can play the position fine, but this was not a position of need. We could have had Ridley there, who I think is going to be a really good player. And they moved around a lot here and probably could have grabbed a Center - unless they are 100% all in on Harrison, that was a position of need.

Rounds 6-7 - C - I like the high character LB pick, and we could use help on Special Teams, but not sure what role this guy plays other than that. Watched film on him, very instinctive player, and great motor. I like him, just not sure where he fits when again we have other needs. The CB - two major knee injuries means he will not contribute at all this year. He might be a good player, but this sounds like Dee Milliner all over again. I like his attitude, but don't like drafting players that can't stay on the field. We'll see what happens, but for now, it's a C

Overall grade - C+.

incomplete:

for the one reason he still hasn't addressed the future of this offensive line, as of now we have 3 out of our 4 starters are at or closing in on 30 years of age and have shown some signs of breaking down... Winters has been injury prone, albeit not lower body injuries but upper body is just as important as lower body for offensive linemen... Beachum and newly acquired via trade Osemele are 30 and how long do they really have... They both might be serviceable for another two years at most but no guarantees and how much will they demand post this season, and do we have the cap availability to keep them?

Shell looks to be on ropes as he is in contract year coming off an injury but then the team drafts what looks like his replacement in Chuma Edoga...

The best part of this whole mess, is maybe Jonothan Harrison will work out short term but what about long term no backup or no viable option to develop at center...

another pick fell into our lap, no credit to Maccagnan, taking a chance on a low character player with weight issues reminds me of when we acquired Aaron Maybin I know another regime did that but this team has had bad luck with these type of players...

The BPA available thing has to stop, we need to draft for long term needs... Having a pussycat at G.M. that is indecisive on making trades when we need quantity over superstar qualities is getting to be problematic... Don't get it wrong I like Leo, I like Quinnen but look at Leo's 5th year payday, do you guys realize what Q's 5th year is going to be up and around $20 M possibly a little bit more for a defensive linemen... For me these numbers are crazy for a defensive lineman...

Then we took not one but two players/prospects that have injury riddled college careers, WHAT?

I feel like we went shopping at ocean State job Lot after the first pick. They have box deals for $25.00 that are hidden in a box that they say is worth $100.00. You are not sure what is inside but it looks like a good deal.

Now i don't watch jr football so my views come from the reviews of the specialist (not always a good thing). With our first pick did we get the cart before the horse. & AGAIN do we have too many of the same type of players. If he is as they say then it was a good pick but if he is 80% as good ......H__l no.

The blocking TE better be the best blocking TE in football to make that a good pick ...well in the top three.

Our edge rusher LB could be a problem & is not very fast...but gets the job done ...lets hope so.

Plus all i see with some of there folks is Hospital reports.

So I have to give them a C plus or B-

Not thrilled with any of these guys but number one. We may be a five piece rock band with all drummers.

the obvious answer for grading ANY draft the day after it ends is incomplete. but going with the "if you had to grade it today..." theory, i gave it a B (really B-,but +/- wasn't an option)

love the pick of Q. my preference was to trade down, but clearly it wasn't an option (lack of any trades until pick 10 tells me so). he was the best player in the draft. allen also would have been a solid choice, but watching clips of williams and reading commentary after he was picked, this was the right call. you take best player over filling a need. he's a beast.

admittedly i'm a homer, but i would have preferred winovich over polite. winovich is probably the safer pick (higher floor), polite probably has more upside (higher ceiling), but also much higher bust factor. it will be interesting to watch their respective careers. obviously chase benefits from getting to play under belichick. he will torment the jets for years. hopefully polite does the same to the pats (and others).

edoga addresses need on the o-line. versatile to play inside or out. would have preferred someone to play center, but the good ones were gone. also don't like giving up a 7th to move up 1 spot. highly unlikely someone was jumping into THAT spot for THAT player. yes, we've heard baltimore wanted to move up, and they did after jets flipped with minny. but they weren't looking at o-line then. wasted a 7th rounder.

TE probably wouldn't have been the direction i would have gone in the 4th, but i'm liking what i'm reading about westco post-draft. excellent blocker (addresses a need) and developing as a receiver. caught something like 26 of 28 passes thrown to him last year. wasn't utilized as a receiving option before.

same as above, LB wouldn't have been direction i would have gone, but cashman could end up being a solid contributor. depth player/special teamer with upside to play more if he stays healthy. type of glue players you need on a team.

injured CB seems like a big gamble, especially given they just did this with jeremy clark 2 years ago

so overall, i gave it a B-, recognizing upside potential

Polite had a bad combine, including a terrible 40. He showed up overweight and suffered an injured hamstring.

He acknowledged it all and said he’s learned from it.

So while it might appear as though he’s not very fast, the tape says complete oppposite. He’s lightning fast off the edge on film.

And? Wesley Walker was coming off a devastating knee injury and was legally blind in one eye!l Like Wesley, because of his injuries, he came off the board much later than he otherwise would have.

Just of note. Revis didn’t have to be developed. He was great from day one. CBs with that kind of talent are hard to come by.

I agree I am the guy that says it is the field that counts. (Ivory) not the other stuff but...it still is a concern
