This would have been an A- if they had taken a starting center - but they got outmaneuvered by a couple of teams for players they wanted. And I think they got too cute trading back at times. Right now, incomplete is the only real grade, but if I had to give an overall grade and by rounds, I would do it this way:
Round 1 - A+ Williams was the obvious pick and if he stays healthy, he can be a star in the league. This d-line will be great, but our o-line is still a serious concern.
Rounds 2-3 - B for now, could be an A if Polite becomes the edge rusher we need and isn't a problem in the locker room or off the field.
Rounds 4-5 - D. Not sure what they were doing taking a blocking TE and OT that has had off the field issues (we just don't need more of these guys). The OT from USC is talented, but again, might have off the field problems. Mac takes these guys routinely and they don't pan out. It's frustrating. The TE - looks like he can play the position fine, but this was not a position of need. We could have had Ridley there, who I think is going to be a really good player. And they moved around a lot here and probably could have grabbed a Center - unless they are 100% all in on Harrison, that was a position of need.
Rounds 6-7 - C - I like the high character LB pick, and we could use help on Special Teams, but not sure what role this guy plays other than that. Watched film on him, very instinctive player, and great motor. I like him, just not sure where he fits when again we have other needs. The CB - two major knee injuries means he will not contribute at all this year. He might be a good player, but this sounds like Dee Milliner all over again. I like his attitude, but don't like drafting players that can't stay on the field. We'll see what happens, but for now, it's a C
Overall grade - C+.
